Faster or slower is about the least logical criteria to use for a convertible vs coupe decision. My Mustang, and the BMW I had for 7 years before it, were strictly summer fun cars...convertibles with summer only tires and rarely driven with the top up. It is not noisy but a coupe is quieter. I would not want a convertible as a year round Michigan vehicle and I need a truck to often to ever go that route anyhow.

If it was my only vehicle, I would have gone for a coupe and honestly it probably wouldn't be a Mustang.

Although, it seems Hot Rod demonstrates the opposite:

That’s the difference between the automatic and the manual. The automatic is always faster.
The vert is some 340lbs heavier than the coupe, according to Ford, Imagine how fast the coupe is with the automatic especially the base as it’s lighter than all the other models.

Get whichever floats your boat, your car, your choice.
Personally I’ve had two verts and fried in both. Mostly drove around with top up and the A/C on.
This time I bought the coupe. Don’t even want a moonroof. I’m as happy as a clam.

Another point I probably have the sunshade closed 90 percent of the time in my current extra car a G35.

HaHa!
I thought just the rear windows up was worse! "Straight to jail!"

Seriously this thread is actually making it harder to decide.
I had a 69 wildcat convertible in my 20s and all the noise and wind issues seem to be far better than those old verts.
That's the selling point of a true "grand tourer" convertible, like a Mustang Premium or a BMW 4-series. The Miata is a fun weekend car, but the second you pass a semi-truck on the highway you gain a new appreciation for how much sound-deadening it lacks.

The Mustang, on the other hand, is perfectly fine at highway speeds. You can hold a conversation with the roof down at 60 mph, with the top up it's only moderately louder than the coupe. You have all the creature comforts of a Premium Mustang, and the truck and interior space to bring your pets, kids, etc.

Would not have bought a Mustang if it wasn't available in Convertible:). I do live in Southern California top down 95% of the time......

Nice!
It would be an easier decision if we had your weather!

I toyed getting a droptop in 2011 when I bought it. However with my OCD and living in AZ the dust would drive me crazy. So I opted for the glass roof and never looked back. Its not any hotter which many would not believe. I only have the shade closed if the sun is at the right angle hitting my eyes. I couldn't sell it as it has too much work in setting it up the way I wanted. My 2024 is a coupe and would have been a glass top if they were available .

This is my first convertible and live in the Chicago area. Absolutely 0 regrets and love being able to put the top down. Never drove the coupe but the road noise top up or down is not bad at all.

I have your exact specs.. it's OUTSTANDING. you won't be disappointed. I always have the top down when weather permits. Nothing beats cruising on a beautiful day/night with the top down. Pull the trigger you won't be disappointed

S550 Convertible for the last 6.5 years here, daily driver.
Top down from 50°F up to 100°F. Aerodynamics of the car are fantastic, A/C works even while driving fast, heating as well as cooling.
140 mph top down on the Autobahn no issue.
Wind noise top up at 155 mph no issue.
When parking in the sun, top goes up for that time.
Opening and closing is super fast, so no problem.
Sun is not a concern for commute to work and back obviously, so I can make use of the vert perk many times throughout the year.

On a road trip last year crossing the great plains in the US however, I closed the top between 1130AM and 430PM, but that was only during veeery long highway travels.
For a short joyride I would have kept it open.

Did I mention the huge trunk space which - compared to many other verts - keeps the same size top up and top down?

Aesthetics are subjective, but the profile of the vert is matching the original Mustang vert AND coupe with its flat trunk line.

The ordered S650 is of course also a convertible.

Did you ship your Mustang to the USA for your road trip or did you rent a convertible here? 155mph top down sounds like a fantastic time! Too bad we don’t have any places here to enjoy super high speed driving but we have lots of low performance drivers that would screw up the fun!

Rented one (was also a S550).
Low performance drivers we have too, unfortunately, so depending on where you drive, such high speeds are not very relaxing and you have to brake many times 😬
