With my driving, using DI nearly all the time, I'm leaving them in. Hopefully they do work and reduce carbon build up.

The carbon traps won't prevent carbon build up,

They're part of the ULEV requirement Ford is using them to 'trap' hydrocarbon vapors escaping the intake after the car is shut down ...

True. I'd like to know just how much carbon they are catching and when all the plants are going to die from lack of carbon.

Has there been a case of anybody getting their warranty voided because they removed the carbon filters?

I am on the court, you will see no gain so removal before warranty is up makes no sense.

I saw a video saying about ~2rwhp and one guy claim 20whp

Do we have a real sense of how much RWHP on an otherwise stock car these steal?

Found this from MT

" The internet has been buzzing over the new dual throttle body setup and the carbon trap located in each intake inlet hose. Removing the traps netted a peak gain of 4 whp while the midrange woke up with a 7-whp increase, bringing the peak power output to 414 whp. "

I don't think we will ever know. All I seem to know is removing them does not lower horsepower.

OK, it must have been internet expertise I read. I think it was from a tuner.
No problem to pull them out then?

Which side is the butterfly on? (Not the insect but the throttle body)

But if you pull them out would you probably reconsider running without filters. As in, could you pull the air filters but leave the ‘traps’ and notice any improvement/increase?

I wouldn't run without filters. Not after seeing the crud that they catch.

But you got inline traps…

it would be simpler to swap the accordion tubes for something a little smoother and then just swap back if you have to visit an unfriendly dealer, but then again no real reason for them to go poking around in there unless you throw a code.

Yeah, but I'm lazy. Easier to service filters.

Was going with, unless measurable differences are detected with another duct the trap may serve more laminar than trap.

The traps allegedly, are to catch carbon coming out, not going in, in any way. Courtesy of your Environmental Protection Agency.
