Figure I'd post this up in preparation for the actual results in the next coming days.

Results from Our 16th Lightning Lap Are Almost Here (caranddriver.com)

There aren't a lot of direct competitors to the S650 in here...save for the Supra 6M and the M240i...but still some heavy hitting sports cars with some more numbers to be put on the board. Next year is going to get spicy with the S650 (hopefully both the GT/P and DH), M2, possible Nismo Z, etc. Can't wait!

I think DH HP takes down the M1 HP time in 2024, but it may no longer fall in LL2. If it somehow makes it in LL2, it might be the new LL2 king. But I am not sure that happens.

Also cool that LL2 and LL3 kings are both Mustangs, Mach 1 HP and GT500. Wonder if any cars this year have a shot at those 2 categories...

If the DH shows up with the optional CF wheels (which I think it will), there is no way it stays in the LL2 category...no matter how hard we all pray it does, Haha.

For 2024, I think I'm more excited to see how the S650 GT/P is going to do, honestly. With the upgraded hardware (especially brakes) vs the S550 (not to mention the extra power), it has the potential to set a very respectable time for a "street/non-special" Mustang.

Yeah, with the CF wheels, no chance it's LL2, though I don't know if it has a chance without them....

I am curious how the GT PP performs as well!

Without the CF wheels I think the DH still bests the M1 HP...but not by much I'd imagine.

I'm exited how the Z06 will be ranked, I'm expecting a 2:43

A Dark Horse with handling package surely should be in the Lightning Lap next year. But I honestly don't expect much improvement over the already good Mach 1 time.

If you are in for the best bang for the bucks a C8 1LT Z51 is insane. 2:49 itself might not sound that impressive, but this was done on friggin Sport 4S tires. Slapping on Cup 2 should easily subtract above 2 seconds, making it at least on par with a C7 GS that had ceramic brakes and the aero downforce package (if you are looking for aftermarket ideas for the C8).

I'm not even going to ask how you got all the results already. But DAMN! Some surprising numbers in there.

How did you get the results, I did not see them. Do you work for C and D or at VIR?

They mention on the page that 'if you got to the site via QR code in the magazine and the videos aren't up yet', which leads me to believe that people will have the hard copy before next week.

Whenever I hear that, it always makes me think of Fallout 3, LOL.
I swear I remember it being said in one of the Blade trilogy movies but now all I can find online is the Dwight Schrute guy saying it in Transformers and FO3 lmao

2:38,6 is absolutely impressive for the Z06. How can this weigth and power combination be nearly as fast as a 765LT, which counts as one of the best track cars out there. Outstanding job from GM especially with a possible pricetag below $140k with Z07 package.

Is it too much to ask that Ford definitely needs a Corvette rival at this point (that doesn't cost $1M like the Ford GT)?

I saw an article that ford was going to announce a partnership with red bull for F1. Ford is also going into Motorsports with the mustang in gt3 and 4, factory x, and other ones. This could mean we could get some of the tech, parts and lessons from the Motorsports in a production car. Ford trademarked Thunderbird a while ago, and I have a feeling that it will indirectly compete with the corvette for the bang for your buck market. The z06 is already blowing away cars 3, 4 times its price tag. Why can't ford, using engines and technology from its race cars. Without horsepower and displacement restrictions, ford could make a very powerful engine, and a very fast car.
