So, I'm finally getting around to upgrading my OEM wheels. I've decided to get gloss silver Velgen VF5 for my vapor blue Mustang GT. I'm undecided as to what tire size I should go with. I'm getting 19x10 square setup. The car isn't lowered and I have no plans to lower it. I was thinking about getting 275/40/19's but now I'm wondering if I should go with 285/40/19's. I don't want to go with 35 ratio because I'll be concerned out the gap between the top of the tire and fender and I don't want to go with 20" wheels as I don't want to have to recalibrate the speedometer and plus the ride is better on 19's. So, do any of you guys have a similar setup (19x10 w/ 285/40/19)? If I decide to go with 285's should I be worried about any fitment issues like rubbing? Help me decide... Thanks in advance for your input!

Go 285/35. Why?

285/40-19 is a bit tall for the front at 28"

285/40-19 tire selection stinks. A couple decent tires and then mostly OEM SUV sizes (BMW/Porsche etc)

275/40-19 is a hair narrow on the 10" wide wheels. Works but just looks a little odd.

Ford put 275x40-19 on DH rear 10 inch wheels. I installed those tires on my front 9.5in front wheels with no issues. I then installed 305/35-19 Pirelli Pzeros to match on rear 10in rims. Granted that's the smallest recommended rim size for rears. I didn’t find a 305x30-19 that would not fit 10 in rims.

OBTW I believe Ford put the 275x40-19s on the rear of the GT Perfotmance Pac rear wheels that where 9.5in as well.

That's great info but, you didn't address or answer any of my questions...

There are many variables to tire fitment. I was just giving you info on Ford factory sizing. You can check the diameter of you current tires to the new ones to see what wheel well gap you will have. Wheel offset also influence the overall look, ie how far the tire sits out. As far as speedo is concerned, it's a function of overall diameter. You need to compare your current diameter and compare to new size. If different it will change speedo, but maybe not by much. Ex 255x40-19 to 285x40-19 is almost an 1 in taller. Maybe 2-3 mph off. Not sure what your current tire size is.
