I wanted a Dark Horse with the handling package, and, well, that is what I bought.

I would like to drive an Ecoboost, though. Frankly, judging by the numbers and a few track videos I watched, it looks like a neat car.

And I think I posted elsewhere that the Ecoboost would have smoked every old muscle car that I owned back in the day. It runs a 13.7 quarter mile. The fastest car in my high school parking lot ran that, and we all thought he was the hero and aspired to be him, lol.

Google shows:

Typical Tuned Quarter-Mile Times & Performance:
  • Basic Tune (e.g., Cobb Stage 1/PH1): Around 13.2 - 13.5 seconds at 104-107 mph with 91/93 octane fuel, improving on stock times significantly.
  • With Upgraded Intercooler & Exhaust: Times drop further, with some hitting the 12.9-second range or better in good conditions.
  • Aggressive Tuning (Protune/Fueling): Can push times into the high 12s, nearing 12.6 seconds at higher trap speeds.
This video shows a tuned EcoBoost Mustang achieving 12-second quarter-mile times:
When i first tuned my eco i was impressed how fast it felt and how smooth shifting became. If ford performance released tune that would make my auto gt shift as good as tuned eco i would buy it immediately

Everyone seems to ride the "a true mustang needs a V8" high horse. Mustangs were made as an affordable sports coupe. Today, $50k + ain't affordable for the masses. Having the ecoboost is a true mustang for being affordable, sporty, and stylish. Dont let all the GT owners make you think you need a V8 for sound and power when you don't. All you need is american made, affordable, fun transportation.
Hope this helps.

I am using mine as a daily driver and the V8 is the way to go. The power and sound is amazing and these cars can be driven mildly when needed. That said, I've owned a number of 4 banger Mustangs and Firebirds, but they were always lacking in power and sound, even though they were better on gas. I also had a 2015 V6 Mustang and put a Roush muffler system on it which did sound better, but not better like a V8 would sound. It's all according to what your priorities are. A V8 Mustang can be used as a daily driver.

A lot of people complain about the affordabiity of GT's but anyone here can look up that the average and median new car price today is right at $50K with the average new car payment being right at $750. So, the masses are thinking a $50K car is affordable, apparently. What is insane is the amount of debt the masses are willing to take on. THAT is why some people never get anywhere financially. Average credit card debt is around $7500 and that is insane to me as well as a shame. I do feel for people. Been in a grocery store lately? THAT is a shock treatment.

My wife only test-drove a GT and fell in love with the sound. I felt she'd be fine with the Ecoboost as it has more power than she's ever had in a car/minivan. I've only owned V8 RWD cars so I was pleasantly surprised that she insisted on ordering the GT. :)
My 68 yo wife also wants the GT when we order in February

Do not let it be a struggle. Get the GT. My 2022 which I bought new was an Ecoboost — if it had been a GT I’d still be driving it vs a 2025 GT. Put 48k miles on the Ecoboost. Now 13k on the GT.

At least once a week. Cumulative 26.7MPG on my '24 Eco and 21.5MPG on my '25 GT (auto). Moderate (70-80MPH) cruising on the freeway can >25-27MPG easily sometimes, around down definitely drops it.
That's cool. I get around 20mpg cumulative, but I'm mainly a city driver. I think I fuel every 2-3 weeks.

You should not worry about Ecoboost engine failures as long as you don't do heavy modifications. My dad ordered a 22 Ecoboost 2 years ago and worried he made the wrong decision because of stories of engine failures and reliability issues, but the car has been fine with no issues.
2 years isnt that much to say that the car is good or bad. Not a single car should die kn 2 years lol.

The EB is every bit the match of a GT short of drag racing, you just have to use more throttle. Unfortunately the 24 EB only comes with FOrd's ghastly A10. So if you want an EB you want a 22/23 manual instead.

I was luckly to see 26mpg with the EB on average. More like 24s was routine. the GT clocked in 20/21. So the fuel savings were hardly worth crowing about.
Turbos rarely give the fuel economy gains that EPA testing suggests. An extreme example is that I tell people I bought my e90 M3 after it won a Top Gear fuel economy challenge against a Prius (I love watching greenies' heads explode) . Amazing how non-economical a small engine run near maximum is compared to a V8 that is barely past idle.

M3 followed a Prius as fast as it could navigate the track and the M3 did really end up with better fuel economy...turbos in EPA test are not pushed as hard as turbos in the real world, so fuel economy really drops off in real use.

Not necessarily. Even non-Siths know that FWD is the devil! I will grant that there may be some wobble with respect to forced aspiration, however.

Yeah, I agonized over the ecoboost for about a half second. Well, not even that long.

I can get over 26mpg without trying on my GT on the highway and over 20 in town if I behave, and I don't.
