They do have a section on track use and increased maintenance so I would expect it would say if a higher weight oil was recommended. I’m unsure, but have stuck with 5w-30 for now. I don’t mind switching if there is definitive guidance that it is better or needed. I am changing the oil after every track weekend.
I agree, it's not in the manual, but I would note that the GT350 had a 5w-50 recommendation. And, so does Whipple, for supercharged Coyotes.

I have seen that, but wasn’t sure if the Voodoo engine made a difference in the best oil option for the track.

FWIW: I added a link to the Whipple recommendation too.

Going to find out myself here shortly. Ordered a FP Oil Cooler and having the dealer install it hopefully next week. Will ask them about that sensor reading when I take it in.
Any updates on how this went? Were they able to program the computer to account for the added cooler?

I had to cancel the install. Trying to find time to get it installed soon tho.

Any updates. Oil temps on these vehicles is a serious problem on road courses. Hopefully the aftermarket finds a solution.

I've run multiple ZL1-1LE's on numerous tracks on very hot days and never once had an oil temp issue. I'm probably gonna sell the Mustang as I can't run more than 4 laps in a session.

Misha switched to 5w50 and solved his oil overheating issues. Check 16:00 of this video:

Did you not get an oil cooler installed? Diff cooler also? I agree the oil temps is outrageous and that’s why I’ve done both already. I can easily squeeze a 20 minute session but later in the day in SC and GA it gets hot.

Is this on a Dark Horse? What temps are you seeing?

So from what I’ve read ford designed the base GT to be a cruiser, so ford came out with PP package. They do that to make money. Yes you do have to let cool down after a few pulls, racecars at the track do that as well. For limp mode if it’s as simple as common sense then it’s programmed to do that to protect the engine.
Can you please quote your source? A 480hp cruiser makes no sense whatsoever.

I can definitely see cooler oil through good oil coolers but not through thicker oil which creates more friction (drag) which always creates more heat. Using thicker oil for protection purposes, yes, for heat dissipation, no, because of drag inside the engine parts.

You have to remember that this is an algorithm, which is measuring oil pressure and head temp.

As the oil heats up, it thins out and pressure drops. The computer can see this pressure drop and assumes the lower pressure is just hotter oil. A 5w-50 will be thicker at 230F than 5w-30, so the computer is thinking it's cooler.

I find the lack of an acutal coolant and oil temp sensor to be frustrating.
