It's actually a 16 year old platform, as S550 was simply a heavily modified S197.

Try again. It's actually a 16 year old platform, as S550 was simply a heavily modified S197.
2010-2014 was still the S197, front fascia updates, minor interior updates, and rear quarter updates.Try again.
S550 is a ground up new platform.
The "heavily modified" version of the Gen 6 Mustang died in 2011..

Well... The S197 (2005-2014) was a modified version of the DEW Platform, same platform that debuted with the Lincoln LS during 2019CY and since the S550 is a "heavy modified" S197 Platform (and this one being a modified DEW98 Platform)...... The new S650 will be based on a platform that debuted in 1999.2010-2014 was still the S197, front fascia updates, minor interior updates, and rear quarter updates.
You're correct the S550 was indeed a new platform.
What I'm saying is that in "A Faster Horse" they discuss the plans to have the Gen 6 Mustang be built on a heavily modified and modernized S197 platform was abandoned in 2011.2010-2014 was still the S197, front fascia updates, minor interior updates, and rear quarter updates.

Uhhh. Nothing is a clean slate design. It was a "New" platform that was based off the S197 platform, I.E. a heavily modified S197 platform. It wasn't a clean slate design
I beg to differ... alpha platform?Uhhh. Nothing is a clean slate design.
Good point. The engineers always start from current knowledge and try to make improvements. Every single dimension might be changed, but it's still based on previous designs.Uhhh. Nothing is a clean slate design.
*checks on Powerwall Gen 2 pre order placed 18 months ago after it was announced*That completely depends on the project and how much of it is under his control vs from suppliers.
Energy storage, SpaceX and other non-Tesla related projects are typically on time or early. Most Tesla delays end up being supplier related.
