My feeling is that the basic platform including wheelbase and suspension will remain the same since those cost hundreds of millions to change. Ford will find ways to reduce weight by a hundred pounds or so but the car will remain a four seater for insurance reasons as well as customer demand. Styling will evolve toward hints of the 1969 -especially the fastback roof design and the rear seats will fold to a “sport deck” like the original fastbacks instead of generic folddowns of the current design. Dash will remain the twin cockpit design to accommodate right-hand drive and may be more reminiscent of the ‘69. Big change will be power plants...465 will probably remain in the GT but the Ecoboost will remain and gain another hp boost. Hybrid will become the mid-range option.
And the Mustang nameplate will return to the fenders.

...just my thoughts

I would not mind if the new mustang was a two seater
disagree, Mustang should always be a 4 seater. If they make a 2 seater sports car they should revive the Thunderbird name.

And remember how accurate one of the mock ups was? It was kinda crazy close.
I remember a member chazcron did one that was based on specifications for parts sent to parts suppliers -- I have a feeling that Ford has closed the loop on that -- or have they? They may open things up again to let people like him do as they'd done prior to the 6th gen -- it was so exciting to see a little bit get revealed here and there. Great marketing: non-marketing as marketing. It helped create a buzz that is partly responsible for the runaway sales success. It may be too soon to get those CAD files even if the loop is open though...

The 2+2 is extremely important. Without it, you alienate anyone who has kids and needs the car for occasional kid duty. You basically start competing with the corvette.
Hey! I agree too! :p

Exactly. All this talk about back seats and Topnotch is dropping unnoticed bombs.

A rear seat delete would be alright with me or to be able to fold down the rear seats like a old fastback

Perhaps some are mistaken in thinking Ford's new trademark, "Powerboost", is meant for hybrids.
