If true, I think this may be a very good decision; (when Dodge goes charging) this will be the last and only pure, affordable V8 sports car on sale anywhere in the world.... (?) ... and with a manual?! I have a slight suspicion Ford won't keep up with the demand.
Does it need to be faster than...
Does anybody know how much radiation these battery packs emit? Considering how small they are I don't think it's too much of a concern but just thought I'd ask.
Anyways, yeah, one can enjoy the music even when it's stationary.
The 5.0 can easily do 600hp from factory. They were capable of that in 2013/4 with voodoo but went for the cheaper internals as 600hp was overkill for a $49,990 sticker. Chev have only matched Gen 3's volumetric efficiency, so don't be fooled by the LT6's high hp number. Yes, it's a big number...
5.4 is such a nice number, innit. I agree with @93-Oct Mayne - more cubes are wlcome for a fatter curve.
I'm hoping it's that considering it'll most likely be the last V8 😞
There was a piece written a while back from an insider saying the money spent on the flat plane cranked voodoo could have gone towards making the XPC spin to 9000rpm.
But, re Voodoo, that was capable of 600hp (back in 2013) with some exotic materials. Unnecessary considering the GT350 didn't...

When playing or listening to a musical instrument people usually prefer more than one constant note (or whine). Listening to and feeling the rise and fall of the revs through every gear change, and feeling the vibrations of the engine through the seats and steering, make up TWO of the 3 senses...
/I think I'm just getting too old.
For 95% of enthusiasts (I'm not including all people on the road, just the enthusiasts) we use 1 or 2 tenths of the vehicle's peak power - 95% of the time.
So, if I'm (forced to be) dawdling around at such a slow pace I better be getting some sort of...
@zackmd1, I think the Atkinson cycle is mainly used for hybrid vehicles that are actually aiming for economy.
@Zent , I'm guessing the V8 hybrid Mustang would have a heavy bias towards maximum power, and only available in high performance premium models above (and not including) the GT. Example...
Jem may be a new member here, but a very old member of many of the well-established automotive (mostly Ford) forums. Anyone that knows his history will take notice of anything he is willing to share.
A small example; he showed us the FGX Falcon months before anyone publicly leaked anything or...
I had similar thoughts, too, Jake, except there was always the talk of the hybrid V8, and that was directly from Ford.
One thing I don't understand is, in light of the recent information relating to Focus' platform - that it is quite scalable, and that it can cater for vehicles ranging in size...
From CD6 we know there are the following;
Ford sedan,
Plus the same from Lincoln (not confirmed),
Maybe Mach1 is on this platform,
Maybe Lincoln version of Mach1,
Explorer,
Aviator,
And, if Mustang was ever going to stand a fighting chance to remain profitable, and to make CD6 even more...
Based off the D6 platform means it's going to be around the same size. Should be lighter.
Could even lose its long hood short deck proportions, which in turn means more space for the rear occupants, but that is only speculation on my part.
