  1. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I agree. Bob Lutz nailed it when he said Ford hit the mark with S550. He said it would have been a success even without IRS due to its body's design. Ford need to incorporate elements from S550 into whatever the trendy character lines are going to be in 5+ years time. It needs to remain a...
  2. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

"All new" has to be taken into context. When every panel is new, and suspension and interior have also been totally changed, I would class that as all new. You will always have carry-over parts with just about every all-new model.
  3. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The all-new "D6" platform is the donor platform which D6R is based on, so Mustang won't be getting it's own unique platform, rather, it will be part of a modular platform. While that may mean some compromises in the traditional Mustang design it will allow much cost-sharing that is required to...
  4. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

That's awesome - Ford has finally made the Mustang look like a Prius.
  5. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

Better an uncool Mustang than a dead one.
  6. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

People are bitching over nothing. The Ecoboost Mustang is on par with the performance of a 2012 GT and for less money. We need to realise as the combustion engine is always improving it means it's going to have less cubes, which means less cylinders. Or would people prefer Ford kept the...
  7. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

This here I agree with. Maybe even less cubes and make an ultra high rpm V8, and then incorporate electric motors to fill it with power down low.
  8. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

More good info, thanks. /When you first said D6R I felt it was something you couldn't make up. Reading some of the articles posted regarding hybrid Mustangs it appears my wish for a V8+electric combo isn't happening. The base model could end up being a 1.5-liter Ecoboost + electric motor/s...
  9. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The only benefit in Mustang not sharing it's platform is it will retain it's proportions. I can live with that... they'll need the extra space to fit the longer 7 litre.
  10. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I was just working off amk91's info: D6R could share many modules with D6 to amortize except that it'll be RWD. If we look at the trend in sales of the pony cars it makes economic sense to share as much as they can with other vehicles. There are plenty of examples where sedans share...
  11. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Indicates it will be shared with D6? I.e. medium to large vehicles. And since it's obviously RWD this means there could be other RWD vehicles from this platform. Early rumours of D6 also suggested it would be versatile enough for AWD and FWD. Perhaps D6 will have all 3 drive types and the "R"...
  12. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

That is probably true. There's a real need for Mustang to drop weight.
