Insuring a convertible Dark Horse SC will be leaps and bounds more expensive than a GT/CS vert. Not even in the same ball park.

Reason #1 - Registered at 795 hp.
Reason #2 - Cost to repair - Much higher due to supply and demand.
Reason #3 - The insurer will assume the owner operator will at some point let it rip. Many high powered expensive vehicles in the wrong hands end up as scrap metal.

Unlikely. It’ll cost a bit more because it’s price is double so that’s a given. But the people who buy convertible mustangs are generally pretty boring. It won’t be wildly more expensive. It’s not like we’re talking about a Charger Scat Pack or a Prius here. True story my wife’s old 2015 Prius was the most expensive vehicle to insure I’ve ever owned.

another thing, the From the Road article by Ford gives us the definitive answer to how high that 5.2L revs in the SC. the answer is 7550 rpm

so, Ford only lowered it 100 rpm from the GTD, which makes me happy. i got rather concerned upon the SC's initial reveal and some pictures showed a ~7300 rpm redline

I'm tempted. That 5 2 and DCT sound mighty attractive. And for probably the same price as a boxster, it's more useful with the 4 seats and won't cost a fortune to service. And while I still think the Shelby's look better, the engine in this case is more than just a coyote with a whipple.

HOWEVER, not in that purple color. And not in black because that'll hide the aesthetics. And I would need spoiler delete option. I have some books at home but I don't need a bookshelf THAT big.

These days auto insurance rates are based on algorithms, part of which is how often drivers of those specific vehicles actually crash or get stolen. Mustangs with V8's are generally cheaper to insure than both camaros and corvettes with V8's, so what does that tell you?

In my opinion, premiums for health insurance should work the same way, where people are rewarded with lower rates who decide to eat healthy and exercise and as a result have faborable measurable lab results that statistically indicate independence from the healthcare system, but not getting my hopes up that'll happen in my lifetime.

I respectfully disagree. Personality type (per se) is not a metric used by actuaries and underwriters. I did check into cost and couldn't get exacts but was told in many cases expect the cost to be double that of a standard Dark Horse. Double plus was also thrown in the mix. Insurance cost is far from a one size fits all.

A GT Convertible is the opposite of that. Same 5.0, same exhaust note, same ability to rip, except now the sky is the roof and every drive is an event.

I’ve got one. I drive it hard. I’ve never once felt boring behind the wheel of it.

You can keep the closed roof if that feels safer. I’ll keep the top down.

My first V8 Mustang was a SN95 97 Vert GT. White with the beige top. Man, that car was fun. I later added an ATI Procharger, Headers, Magnaflow exhaust, and the Saleen vert bar.

I have not had a Vert since that car. This SC vert may sell a whole lot better than people think. Especially here in the Shadows. People love their tops being down.
