I don't disagree, but that seems like an inevitability in business once competition and supply/demand comes into play.

(...Corvette subbrand SUV after the Camaro sedan? 😏)
Camaro sedan is getting backlash from consumers, but Camaro always was the red headed step child to the Vette. You would think with the Vette going mid engine you could let loose with the Camaro a little bit.

Since Farley likes Porsche you would think he would take their approach preserving the 911 but creating the Panamera. (Since there never was a car called “Porsche” it was named after a man like Ford 😂😂😂)

Screw making the Camaro a four door as well. Just bring back the SS nameplate. Or Malibu, or Impala. But don't disgrace Chevelle!
If the general Wikipedia is correct, the Chevelle had sedan/wagon bodystyles. Personally I'd dig the name Chevelle over Camaro for their 4-door sedan. Or Corvair. Maybe even Chevette. (If they did bring back the SS name, would one of the trims be an SS so we can have a Chevrolet SS SS?)

Back to the Mach 4...has that name been finalized? If it were me I'd call it the Marauder (or Mustang Marauder if they HAVE to use the Mustang name for subbranding). Or Mythic (but I'm not sure if that name was trademarked exclusively for EV vehicles).

Chevelle was a spicy Malibu too, so when the Chevy SS came out I thought they were gonna name it that.

GM just announced the new Camaro will be released in 2029 will be a 4 door, on the Caddy Blackwing platform with entry level of 4 cylinder turbo and V8 (undisclosed) and auto and standard transi. Built along side Caddy Blackwing and share many common parts, and my opinion knowing GM both of the bodies will look similar, Caddy more trim and luxury. To me the Camaro is dead, no Pony Car, just another 4 door hardtop. So sad and I pray Ford does not follow the same path. GM destroyed the Corvette, hate the C8, no resembance to the traditional Corvette, C7 was the best of the best, and now the Camaro as 4 Door....so sad to see the car business going the way of boring.

Yeah it’s pretty negative across most platforms. Similar situation with the Mustang.

You get a a handful of people who don’t care what the name is, then the few people who want it to be named Camaro/Mustang because they think it’s funny.

Which just makes one wonder, which takes more, denigrate an authentic or create something new. What type history did the cts, ats, ctx bring with it? Odd how they can pull it off but ford wants to hold onto/cling aggressively to the past.

I mean the Fathom shows that Ford isn’t against going all new, and the Maverick shows they can have success with old so called “forgotten” names.

I think Farley likes the idea of brands, I remember being around people working on the whole Scion thing which was something he spearheaded. Maybe he thinks if it’s pulled off he will be a Iacocca figure.

It’s interesting though how the only issue people have with this sedan is the name. Working in marketing, it makes sense to just get rid of the one big issue.

Like the Fathom nothing has actually came out yet so you can't really have any issues with it.
We know it’s a Mustang based sedan coming out with hints of the Mustang name being attached like a trademark. People just don’t like the possibility, but that goes with anything being rumored.

Seems like they think the only way to sell a sedan these days is to steal an existing sports cars name. Pretty soon we might see a Corvette minivan! 😅

Honestly, how many less Mach-E would have sold if they didn't call it a Mustang?

I just hope this doesn't flop, because if it does the Ford executives will use it as an excuse for why they should discontinue the Mustang altogether.
