Mine worked for a little while when I first got the car, then after an OTAU it began to work intermittently... which is really bad because I'd downshift and quickly let off the clutch expecting a rev match and instead I get my eyeballs yoinked out of my skull.

So I went back to blipping for several months until one day it started working again flawlessly. I don't know if it was related to my canned Whipple stage 1 tune and was later resolved by a custom tune or if it's just another Ford fail, but it's working great now.

I'm stuck on "OTAU"?

Love it. Also I think when it' s on... you can take off from a stop light without touching the gas pedal... as you let the clutch out, the car is automatically giving it gas. Cool.
Yep car will not die in traffic if you are just creeping along slowly letting the clutch out. I like it and I think it makes life easier for the motor, trans and clutch.

Yeah.. really great for creeping along in traffic. I'm sure the justification in rpm matching, restricted clutch master line, auto-gas off the line, etc.... all do 1 thing: They ease up on the wear and tear on the driveline (less warranty work).

Have it and love it. If I wanted people to be aware of me I'll downshift if not I'll push in the clutch and coast.

I had the feature in 2 Camaros as it was developed by Nissan in roughly 2002 (has been available on manual Z cars since).
GM offered it on Corvettes and Camaros as recently as them being manual.

The feature is significantly better in the mustang as the GM version as recently as my 2023 Camaro SS II - was way too fast to match. As soon as you micro touched the gate it would do it. That timing isn’t the best. In the mustang it sort of waits for you to be ā€œin the gearā€ which is more reasonable.

it always has the reputation of using more fuel as it would match blip no matter what and many of us use other methods and sometimes chose not etc.

I never knew if that rumor about increased fuel consumption was real but I would say in my ā€œopinionā€ it most certainly is.

i find that I use it sometimes when I’m hi way driving in somewhat crowded conditions. Lots of effortless, high volume downshifts when having to keep slowing up on people is nice for me. I don’t use it on local roads however. It’s a nice feature - but again I’m convinced it really impacts my gas mileage around town and I certainly don’t need it.

Oh one more sidenote and I think someone might have referenced it.
There was another rumor that I never tried but supposedly in the Camaro, if you had rev match on and you were ā€œdrag racingā€ - under hard/full acceleration you could upshift as long as you were above 3000rpms and you did not need to use the clutch at all. I think the ā€œfeatureā€ was such that the instant matching of the revs under heavy load would allow the gears to seamlessly change without grinding due to the matches revs.

again - never tried it. Never knew if it was true. People used to say it was like an actual ā€œdesign featureā€ that simply wasn’t advertised šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø. Might have been under the launch feature as well. Although in none of my cars have I ever used the ā€œlaunch featureā€ and frankly im not about to try.
Heard someone use it once and I thought the car sounded like it would blow up šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Horrific sound!

That is likely referring to No Lift Shift. You can keep your foot on accelerator but you still have to use the clutch.
Our cars do it, but I have not had the chance to try it out yet.

I stand corrected…apparently that is a thing on 6th gen Camaros. 😳
Agree, I would not try it on my car.

You reminded me about the Z cars. I had two of them several years ago, a 350Z and a 370Z and now that you mention it, they did have that feature, although I don't remember using it. Yes, I can imagine it would be using more gas but it can't be that much. The car is hard on gas anyway so what's another 50 cents. The more I use it the more I like it. It makes me smile and feel young again and at 72, I need all the help I can get. I'll use it until the novelty wears off which may or may not be ever. We'll see! Thank you for responding and happy/safe driving.
