@Nik691 .... yes, but once the tires are on the rims you have introduced several variables. The installers should have checked the rims when they were "bare" - before installing the tires. Trying to now possibly balance a bad rim is not a good situation. TBH I'd remove the tires and ensure the rims are good. Then install the tires. If too many weights have to be used at that point then I'd want a new tire. Good luck.
Yes and thank you! When I am able to get them up to the shop, I will have them remove both wheels from the tires to see. Gonna try and get up there tomorrow

Get documentation if they determine its the wheels. You'll need it for the warranty replacement.

I had a similar issue (tire out of round on an Expedition) that was verified by my Ford dealer. He knew of a tire shop in a nearby city who had a machine that shaved out of round tires. I went there and he tested and shaved 2 of the 4 and my issue was solved.

@Nik691 ..... as an example of what I said earlier - I bought my wife some new chrome rims for a new SUV she bought last November. The aftermarket company RTX makes super high quality rims ..... nevertheless I had the installers check run out and truing on the bare rims before tires were installed. When the rims passed inspection I had the new tires installed. They were fine - but - if there had been a balancing problem I would have caught it with the bare rims or later with the tires. BTW the tires she had were Continrntal Pro Contacts.

I really should have been more thorough with having it checked, but with winter just ending, I was rushing to get them on and to enjoy the car. Now I’m paying for it lol. I’m really hoping it’s the tires and not the wheels

I

I'm assuming he got the wheels and tyres as a package. They supplied them, they can sort it.
They were purchased separately, so I unfortunately have to go through one, the other, or both

@Nik691 ..... don't be too hard on yourself. I'm an old geezer and what wisdom I have to share was often at the expense of f-ups when I was younger! Live and learn young feller.

I think I saw on Tire Rack that shaving was an option when ordering tires. Also, I used to shave my bias ply tires in the 1960s-1970s. Great results. Very smooth ride. If warranty approach doesn’t work, you may want to try it.

Update 2: Took the wheels and tires in, they threw them on the roadforce balancer and took me back so I could watch, everything checked out and the wheels themselves didn’t seem to have any pressing imperfections. They were out of balance and the one was 3 oz out of balance. They said that Ford did what’s called a staggered balance and that it wasn’t an effective way to balance them. Discount rebalanced them and I brought them back to put on the car. I just got done taking the car on the freeway. It feels improved but there is still a slight shake when no hands are on the wheel. I’m not an engineer but I suspect that perhaps because the steedas have less rotational mass and are close to being 10 ibs lighter than the stock wheels at all corners, that more of the road imperfections are being transmitted to the steering system and through the wheel. At this point I don’t know if there is an actual issue with them or just a characteristic of the wheels.

What size are the tires before and after? Thinner sidewalls definitely give more road feedback.

Well this will make it even more difficult lol. I wanted the mph to be as close as possible to the stock setup. The stock setup is 255/40r19 in the front, 275/40r19 rear. The steedas are 295/35r19 front, 305/35r19 rear

Well, a wider tire and shorter sidewall will definitely change the steering feel and make the ride more bumpy. But it shouldn't cause more vibration.

So is the wheel vibrating, or just moving with the road imperfections?

It is vibrating very slightly at or around 50 mph and goes away after exceeding 70. It is noticeable with no hands present on the wheel. When my hands are on the wheel, I don’t feel anything that is an abnormal vibration. I would film it with my phone, but honestly the camera can’t even pick it up.

That sucks you still have issues with your new shoes. If it bothers you enough, maybe try yet one more place to balance them and see if it helps. it's no fun making a mod that makes the car feel worse.

good luck!
