Work is slow today so I checked the 'yards and sho nuff an 09 s197 just landed yesterday so I tried for a nice cowl. Of course it had a split in it but on the way I saw on Okee Blvd one of the many undercover s650 5.0's with a Porsche 911 pulled over lol. I'm sure he entrapped him into a street race as is their wont. I guess they figure kiddos don't know the law. Luckily I do all my speeding on Forza 7.

Are there many 5.0 undercovers in your area?

Everything in these parts are F150s and Explorers with the 3.7L air breathers. The NMHP has a few Mustangs, but those are all along I-40.

Since you sorta brought this up... I want to know how a heepy-cheapie Kia four banger can out accelerate a 3.7L V6, and darn near outrun one?

this needs to be everywhere. I'v seen the black mustangs put here by plant city. I had one trying to goad me into a race. I turned my dash cam toward them and shouted NOPE followed by the number one salute. They got pissed lol.

My Nissan Altima with the 2.0 Turbo would outrun a 3.7 V6 exploder and stay with any stock V6 Mustang / Camaro.

a simple google search says
" Unmarked cars are used for speed enforcement in Georgia, particularly by state troopers and specialized units to target aggressive driving, though they often use "ghost" or low-contrast graphics. While Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 40-8-91) requires marked cars for routine traffic stops, courts have ruled that officers in unmarked vehicles can still stop drivers, and a failure to comply with marking rules does not invalidate a stop. "

I had fun in unmarked patrol cars, people were so surprised when the flashers and siren went on.
Except during the '79 fuel crisis. The bosses wanted to be seen to "do something" about fuel economy. So they gave us a near fluorescent green Holden Kingswood 202ci red six running on CNG and 3 spd auto.
It wouldn't pull the skin off custard, and one day I checked a Corolla at 130kmh and it was topped out. I couldn't close in on him, I was about 400 metres behind. So as a long shot I hit the flashers and the silly bugger stopped.
He got a warning for his honesty.

I haven’t seen any in the DFW area, but I’m sure we have some. I’ve seen a few while watching OPLive. If I recall… a few weeks back one s550 did have something break during a pursuit and it was pretty sad. Love watching all those Chargers and Challengers get pulled over by the Mustang pursuit cars

......personally, I love it when 5-0 pulls over idiots. 90% of the fast drivers I see are morons who are going to kill someone sooner or later. Even decent drivers kill themselves sooner or later - Paul Walker, Ken Block..........When younger I took a Rally course and passed to get my card I also took a high performance race boat course from Cigarette in Florida. Yeah, I know good for me - but - my point is even if you took courses and developed skills you have to be very wary of speed and as I said above 90% of the speeding morons have no idea how to handle a vehicle at speed. So good for 5-0 - take the morons off the streets.

The questions remain.... Does it really matter if police vehicles are marked or unmarked? I don't think so. If you have a visible radar detector on your dash, does that mean you're a scofflaw? In a word, no! Do people who drive like idiots only do so once in a while? No, they always drive like idiots! identifying them isn't hard either. Just look for overly-tinted windows, license plate defusers, extremely loud exhausts, and incessant weaving in and out of traffic. It's these drivers the cops always stop.

Lucky man.

For awhile, there was a white Camaro with orange stripes around Danbury CT. Was a total bait car, would egg people on to do stupid shit infront of it. It sort of borders on entrapment, but not really.

I am not sure whether you think your simple Google search means I am full of it.

There is also O.C.G.A. 40-1-7, which says each vehicle shall have overhead blue lights if it is used for traffic enforcement, each sheriff's office and each city PD can have one without roof mounted lights and each state patrol post may have two without roof mounted lights.

While an arrest made using a vehicle that violates these code sections will not be invalidated, it really is just not a thing here in Georgia. About a decade ago a Sheriff's office over by Savannah ran a joint operation with the State Patrol to combat distracted driving. They did assign unmarked cars, but stipulated that these cars were not normally assigned to traffic duties. It caused quite a public uproar. I have not heard other such special operations using unmarked cars.

Cars doing traffic enforcement here are marked. They also generally have lights up on top, as the number of cars that are not required to have lights on top is limited by statute.

That's Georgia. I live here. I am a former police officer. Tell me all about Maryland, if you wish. I don't know anything about Maryland and traffic enforcement laws.

never even suggested you are full of it. Just saying what I found. Can't believe everything you read on the net.

What you found on the net is not wrong, it just isn't really how things go here. Sheriffs are elected officials, and they are not going to piss off their voters. Georgians are really against unmarked cars, which has a lot to do with history here and corruption and small towns making their revenue off of drivers. Accordingly, the public outcry caused large legislative changes.

Ludowici, Georgia even had a setup where officers hiding in the courthouse could change the light downtown from green to yellow to red quickly just to catch approaching drivers running the red light!

The courts in Georgia have done a lot to undermine the legislative changes in the last half century, and the statutes have loopholes in them, but there is still just a huge public aversion here to things like hiding while running radar and using unmarked cars.

All the track days and driving courses cannot prepare you for high speed driving in traffic. Awareness, anticipation and a healthy dose of luck are as important as driving skill.
Experience is also a great teacher.
Because we were driving fast so often, our accident rate was way lower than general duties Police. In my time we had no fatals and only one serious injury crash.
