Why would you kill a cars production, only to bring it back 4 years later on the same platform? The answer is EV or Hybrid. People are getting waaay to prematurely excited over this.

And also, this is a Mustang forum. Never have I seen so many people clamoring for a Camaro. What the hell is going on here? Back in my day you were banned for such blasphemy lol.

But seriously, if a new Camaro is what makes the Mustang improve either this gen or next, I'm all for it. And a potential Camaro sedan before the Mach-4...I'd love to see it happen if it means the Mach-4 actually goes into production. Blasphemous, yes, but this is me we're talking about.

That said, if they do make a Camaro sedan, I'd prefer they called it a Chevelle (not a Camaro Chevelle). I'm certain I'm the only one who thinks that way though.

There is no pony war GM gave up and put their corvette up as the benchmark for the Mustang.

Excited for this. Really loved my Camaro LT1 (cheapest trim with the V8). Now on my 3rd S650 Mustang, they just don't handle as well and predictably as the 6th gen Camaros. Even the 4cylinder Camaros were super tossable and balanced, and the V6s had amazing high-RPM howl.

What happened to your first two?

Interesting....hopefully they can keep it as light or lighter than the 6th generation Camaro

Will it get the new 6.7 V8? Will they hobble it with a DI system that doesn't have PI alongside of it? Will they put a decent piston in it?

I don't see how they'll pull that off

The one piece of confirmed info mentions that it'll be on a modified Alpha chassis, so it'll have similar bones to the late 6th gen

It's not getting smaller. The last Camaro was praised for everything except for its pillbox greenhouse and small interior dimensions, both in terms of rear seat occupancy and its tiny trunk opening

Unless they turn this thing into a two-seater and just say f*** the rear seating, it'll likely be as big (if not bigger) than the 6th gen. Even if it ends up being the same size, they probably have to stuff more airbags, in the thing and improve the crash structures even further to meet current-year crash test stringency. Things that pack on pounds, like bigger brakes, wheels, and tires

I'll just hope that they keep this thing below 4,000lbs in SS trim, and that they bring a V8 to said SS trim

And I hope they don't suffer from the same brain damage that Ford has when it comes to pricing this thing out

My bar for expectations is really low, but as with most things released since Covid, I've learned to brace for impact and disappointment

There's hope. The CT4 (which is built on Alpha 2) is only 3517lbs. Sure, it has the 4 banger vs the V8, but there's luxury options like the 14 speaker stereo and cooled seats that the Camaro doesn't need.

I wholeheartedly agree. Problem is GM gave up on the Camaro as a Pony car. A 2nd resurrection is not going to be what you think it is.

Although I've never been a huge fan of Chevy , I would love to see Ford have some more competition. For me a winner would be an all-wheel drive Mustang. I'd even take one with four doors, as heavy as it might be. Sounds like any Camaro is years away. Probably about the same time Dodge gets their act together again. That lawn mower sounding six pack doesnt cut it.

To be fair, as far as auto industry timelines go, 2027 may as well be next week. For perspective, the next gen mustang is scheduled to arrive in 2029 most likely. We don't know anything about the next gen mustang apart from it may have styling lightly and subtlety inspired by the new edge, which I genuinely hope isn't the case.

For real, the Camaro was a solid car, and competition makes everything better. The stars seem to be aligning for the next gen mustang as well, it seems like they have a clearer direction of where they want to go, performance hybrids. The design team is stronger than it was with the s650, the guy who designed the Ford GT supercar and bronco is now overseeing all future Ford designs, including the next mustang, and Curic, designer of the s550, is back in charge of all Ford performance car design. So hopefully the next mustang looks just next level spectacular and is a huge leap forward.

Additionally, I hope they take learnings from all these renewed motorsports efforts, and their affordable EV skunkworks team, and manage to put it all together in a way that delivers an even more compelling performance car platform in a way that doesn't break the bank.

Pretty much the only thing I said that was speculation was them taking styling inspiration from the new edge. That's coming from a very credible inside source over on Blue Oval Forums named ExplorerDude. When I say credible, I mean he's given in-depth details on future products that no one in the general public knew. Like when he described the next gen Lincoln nautilus as having a dashboard screen going across the entire dash well before anyone saw it, and that turned out to be correct. Or describing design traits of refreshed models, that sort of thing. Back when most people were saying the s650 would be using cd6, he was saying that was false and that s650 was using a modified s550 platform.

So the dude is legit. He didn't say that it's confirmed that Ford is gonna use new edge styling and that the design was locked into that theme, just that it might happen. Beyond that the 2029 timeline is something we got from UAW negotiations where we see as a result of plant funding negotiations, what products are going into which plants, and when, so it does a pretty good job at giving us a timeline, but that can also change.

Just to get this out there, I'm not a Ford insider, and I don't want to mislead people into believing as such. I just relay what I'm hearing from insiders.

I was under the impression that the Dodge Charger ICE is all motor, no hybrid. The two drivetrains were ICE and EV, no hybrid at all.
I admit, the BMW 550i hybrid left me disappointed in terms of how it drove and the Dodge EV Charger just felt awful. I have not driven the six-pack versions

Honestly, I don’t mind a turbo engine. Granted I prefer a v-8 turbo. But as someone who has to go through mountain passes to see family, I find the turbo can eliminate on of the biggest NA drawbacks, loss of power at altitude, the biggest issue is ensuring that they have a system that minimizes turbo lag. As I said, I have not driven the 6 packs, so I don’t know if dodge did it right or not, but we can hope….oh who am I kidding, it’s dodge…of course they screwed it up.

love my 6.7 super duty and the turbo turns that engine into an absolute beast.

We’re clamoring for a Camaro to force Ford’s hand to improve the Mustang

I don’t trust Ford in this current climate to make generational improvements to the platform without competition
