What's not been mentioned yet is the "unintended acceleration" otherwise known as uncoordinated morons driving autos.
We've just had a mother killed and her daughter injured when one of these idiots drove into a cafe.
I've also seen it happen in a car park, and it's astonishing to see how people freeze with their foot hard on the gas. Luckily she only took out 3 cars, no people were hurt.
That rarely happened with manual trans vehicles. Until recently you could not do a driving test here in an auto, then they introduced auto only licences, now there's no restriction.
It's amazing to see Italian wrinklies who have to be 80 in the shade, happily driving their little manual shopping baskets and coping just fine.
I don't believe you can call yourself a driver if you can't drive a manual trans vehicle.

I listened to my wife back in 21 when I traded my 15gt manual with MGW shifter in for 10-speed Mach 1 because she wanted to drive it . Well for 3.5 years and 26k miles , she drove it 3 times and curbed my wheel one of the times.
I spent so much money on tunes and mods to make me like it but the entire time I wanted back into a manual.
Never going back and never listening to wife again when it comes to my toys! Except for maybe the color choice…lol

Every stick car I’m in nowadays, all I can feel is the loss of momentum between shifts, and it’s not like the cars are solid axle, train tracking 1/2/3

Flappy paddles and automatics are "faster" on a track or drag strip but they are soul sucking anywhere else and nowhere near as much fun as rowing up and down through the gears.

My wife doesn't want to learn, so, i bought it anyway, she has her car, and I have mine. Now, most times she is in the passenger seat.

Well, I just happen to be the fastest manual shifter since Ronnie Sox (Sox & Martin, look it up you millennials & younger). At least that’s what I told myself when I had a manual!

Mine loves manual trans, but we had to get her an auto because of foot problems. She wasn't happy giving up her GT86
