To me there is a BIG hole in the market for S650 its basically stock plus tune, or 300whp with insert whoevers supercharger/turbo system here...id like about 500-550whp..I dont need 700whp and I dont need 550 all the time 3-5 sessions a year...maybe 5-7...so im like T off the port rail, feed a couple wet nozzles with about 60 each on em, bring it in slow with a cheap progressive controller and let closed loop do the rest ( your fuel jet will have it close and the dang car has twin widebands in closed loop stay modest and I believe it will live just fine )...such a hole after tuning..it seems like its 450 tuned e85 or 750 boost...how about something in the middle which doesnt cost 12k hehe....ive used nitrous 40 years bone stock 305s "back in the day" fine at 125 hit most of the time I see issues over the years is when people try to use more than 200...if you want 200 and over just boost it....100 shot and bottles last a long time as well.....I mean think of how well the stft/ltft handle e40...they will have positive 20%+ get it close wet and she is fine...maybe cap the timing a few degrees less at worst.......

I guess im nuts....seems cheap n simple to me but ive played with it nearly 40 years.....peasant boost if you will.....

Open air boxes that requires a seal against the hood, not good.

No thanks.
I can't speak for these AWE boxes, but the open-air box sealing on the hood isn't any different than the competition air boxes that people are installing on their Whipples. A seal against the hood liner isn't any different, and may in fact be better, than a heat-soaked plastic lid. The hood liner will be considerably less hot. Just my $0.02, and I have not taken any data to confirm this.

They aren't open if they seal against the hood.
Seal against the hood which is moving with body flex, what a joke! There is no way this rubber gasket is going to keep engine compartment heat out of the filter boxes better than an attached lid to the box like Ford has designed. No way.

Plus I’m not fan of having rubber gaskets continuously rubbing against my hood and hood insulation.

What about the 100+deg heat from the sun beating down on the hood during the summer? Cooler? Not.
This is a solar heater for your engine filter boxes! No thank you, I prefer cooler air for my engine.

Separate filter box lid design is going to be a much cooler option that allows for cooler air from the front of the car.

Go for it Ryan, it’s all yours!!!

I tried asking a question on your website about the filters but can't submit it because I don't know what format you are requesting for my phone number.
I tried a number of ways with no success.

I wasn't advocating that one design was better than the other. Just that it wasnt an open box design if it seals agains the hood. #reading comprehension. šŸ˜‰

If your hood is flexing that much with respect to the frame of the car, you definitely have bigger issues than a bit of hot air being sucked in through your air filters.

I would also assume that the insulation on the bottom of your hood will be cooler to the touch (and measured) than a hot piece of plastic (the cover). Again, I haven't measured this myself, but it is the nature of insulation; this is just observation and deduction.

As far as the flex, there may be some, like a very, very small amount, but the nature of a RUBBER FLEX SEAL should negate any "rubbing" you may think there is. Now, there will be an impression on the hood insulation as pressure is being put on it, but it's not going to destroy it. Remember, the boxes are mounted to the frame of the car and do not torque with the engine; the movement will be near zero.

The 100+ degree heat is negated by the insulation you've been talking about. Go run your car for 30 min down the road, pop the hood, touch the plastic intake box part, and then touch the insulation. I guarantee you the insulation is cooler to the touch (or measure it).

I don't think you've done enough research to claim what you've typed out, or at least done in comparisson to those that have done dyno pulls to show the differences between these setups with air boxes.

Not trying to be an ass, but a bit of research and a few YouTube videos go a long way.
