I had the quad tip Switchpath cat-back installed on my GT yesterday. I love the look of the black tips, and I really like the sound of the AWE exhaust over my previous setup, which was stock except for a Steeda H pipe. It has a deeper tone than stock or with the previous H pipe. Volume level seems to be about equal to what it was with the Steeda H pipe, which is louder than with the stock resonator, but not obnoxious. The AWE system does seem to have some drone when cruising and the engine is under a slight load such as going up an incline. I only drove about 10 miles after picking it up, so I’ll wait to see how the cabin noise is with some longer cruising. Overall I’m impressed with the exhaust.

As a side note, I think the 4” tips on the GT system look perfect. I was able to check out the 5” tips for the Dark Horse system and they look massive! It will be interesting to see those Dark Horse tips in person once installed.

Does it drone at all in quiet mode?

I'll have to drive it some more to really give a good answer. I was switching between modes multiple times in the course of my approximately 15 minute drive home, so I'd like to get some more time driving it in each mode before giving an answer.

do the active systems use the factory active exhaust motors and wiring, or is it a custom system with it's own controller and stuff?

The active systems utilize all the factory wiring and function, but include motors pre-mounted on the valve assembly for ease of installation.
