Note, however, if you're going to make the argument that the name "Mustang" is key, Ford has already thrown that out the window by attaching it and the logo to the Mach-E; there's no Corvette EV SUV.

But look at Porsche; despite them still making sports cars, if you go to most dealers there are nothing but SUVs on the lot.
Mach E? Mustnot.

You all should see the musem at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham. They have fully restored ANCIENT to modern motorcycles. Everyone of them stays in restoration until it is fully restored and is run around the track, then put on display. Everyday, all of them (a LOT) are inspected for oil leaks. If there is one, it gets fixed. The place is amazing and so is the track. Been around it on sport bikes many times. It can getcha......

But not with any regularity; most of us wouldn't consider five or ten miles once every three to four years to be "driving" them.

Rather reluctant to say cause it's so embarrassing furthermore people who are buying have no idea why I'm selling so it's not like they are dancing and yelling fire sale - even though it sorta is
If it's for buying a house, can a relative take over the payment?

Selling my almost new 2025 and boy got to tell you folks the market is in the tank like bottom of the Ocean.
Albeit, we are currently Winter - but let me tell you - $12 to $15K losses on your car over what you paid these wagons DO NOT HOLD THEIR VALUE, as a matter of fact they are void of value ...

I am shocked at the value loss really ...
Who thinks they buy a new car and sell it right away and believes it's gonna be the same price?

When you buy a new car, you lose X % of value right as you drive it off the lot, like a 50k car is 40k value after one year, then it depreciates slower over time.

How are people surprised by this?

Honestly if you've never looked into it, you probably don't know.

I mentioned previously, it's all vehicles - new 2026 BMW M2 is worth about $11K less than it sold for if you drive it back into the dealership immediately after driving away.

Discounts aside, from a purely MSRP point of view, a GTP optioned the way I want it according to Ford's configurator would sticker at $69,835.

The DHP I would order would sticker at $72,460.

Just from an MSRP point of view, the Tremec alone would definitely be worth $2625 to me.
Tremec, Tremec, Tremec you guys keep bringing this up like it's the big difference with the DH. I can't believe that we are totally ignoring that cool little blue shifter ball!

So glad I bought mine to keep until it becomes impossible to maintain. Best sounding V8 on the market imo, Tremec, every option down to the color I wanted, bought with single digit on the odometer so I know the full maintenance history. I'd rather buy a shitbox with zero trade-in as a second car than get rid of my DH. I hope it ascends with me to "that old guy with the cool classic car" status. I already don't love how computerized and full of e-nannies cars have become and I can only imagine it getting worse, so anything built 10 years from now will have nothing to offer me. I used to think a way about older folks still driving their 20yo cars like dude just upgrade already, but now I totally get it, they were right. Everything "new" really is junk and I don't need it.

A Dark Horse will never be a Barn Find. FORD tends to quit making parts for cars after 10 years. After market might save you, but I doubt it. So, buying these cars with the hope of having it 20 years from now is questionable.
Enjoy the car today, lose the money today, and hold them or fold them!
It costs to have fun.

Ah yes, 911 SUVs all over the lots.

Coming in all smug as saying a 15k loss as soon as you drive It off the lot is normal is laughable. Mach 1s did not depreciate this quickly. GT350s and GT500 are not depreciating like this. Its probably more of a symptom of the economy and used car market, but I think Fords outrageous pricing of this car ands it name rebranding are also likely factors.

Just disagree, sure times have change. Many more DH built than the gt350/500 cars. Problem is folks mindset of buy a DH as an investment. Bad idea, 15k loss on a new car after driving it home makes perfect sense, and it always had for 50 years (by percentage of loss). That is where the term "negative equity" originated in the automotive finance world.

Most Porsche dealers have no 911s on their lots, they're all Cayennes, Macans and Taycans.

They are, and it's normal for most any car.

Unless it's a collectible model, if you drive a $125K Porsche off the lot and turn around and sell it as used ten minutes later you would be lucky to get $100K.

It was a joke, Porsche knows better than to make a 911 suv.
