It’s very pronounced on EcoBoost. I also have a bmw X5 that has the same feature (luckily with an option to turn it off in the infotainment menu) and that’s very obvious too. But honestly, i haven’t been able to tell if ESE is even active on my GT.

PS. Swapping subs with no amp modification did not make the exhaust sound any different whatsoever (I do have the active exhaust). I have new rattles popping up when the volume is cranked up above 22. Depending on what I’m listening (and the hertz band) rattle sometimes comes from B pillar, sometimes the doors, and sometimes just can’t tell where. With all the plastic in the cabin, it’s not surprising to have them though. I didn’t expect and/or buy the Mustang as a luxury car and I’m happy with it as is. Besides I like working on my cars so chasing rattles will give me something to do over the weekends. Yea my life is pretty boring.

I am going to get a harness , sub and prefab box that fits where the stock is for now. Been trying to find someone in the Austin Texas area that has Forscan and knows how to use it to turn off he ESE. I can totally tell there is a synthetic exhaust sound coming from the speakers . I also have active exhaust , You can hear the ESE even more in track mode exhaust .

Hey there, sorry for the late reply but these clip in to the existing holes of the 10inch sub.

Instead of the Pioneer TS-A250D I bought the upgraded TS-D10D4 from Online Car Stereo with a 15% welcome discount code and no sales tax, so it’s about $60 more. Seems that the D10D4 fits the exact same and has an upgraded woofer compared to the A250D. I found a thread on this forum where someone has this installed in a DH. I will post some pictures of both units out of the box comparing them before I return the A25D to Amazon.

A lot. However, I’m now having rattles from various plastic trim pieces, most notably the doors. Now I have to address them.

Question: Is it possible to add the sub to the car if it didn't come with one? I'm wondering if the wiring is there for it. I can't believe they would do different wiring harnesses for every type of build, that would be crazy.

It’s is possible but you would need to wire yourself afaik

Factory amp, not other modification (just some sound deadening around the box). Amp is strong enough, it’s just the stock subwoofer that’s ’ty.

I’ve read just about every thread on adding a subwoofer. Think I’m going to go with the Kicker in stock enclosure. It has a lower power requirement, higher Xmax, and seems to be perfect for the volume of the box. If for some reason I still want more I have a 500W amp I can add down the line. If that doesn’t work I have an unused sundown 12 sitting in a box.

So I did and actually based on the specs it makes a lot of sense. Less power needed (better match for factory amp) and higher sensitivity. Also half the price of the kicker so I’ll try this and if it doesn’t satisfy I’ll bite the bullet and install the 12” Sundown I already have in a bigger box.

I have the factory grill and ring cover if anybody wants it after breaking theirs, shoot me a message and will ship at cost.

Sorry if it was confusing but I just did the DD Audio sub. It is same as factory to me and if I want more I’ll go custom instead of trying a different sub with the factory system.
