.....my 2024 GT does not make any non-engine ambient noise. Friend brought over two meters he uses for commercial HVAC installations in sensitive installs - hospitals, computer sites etc. The instruments can read noise and vibration from well beyond both ends of the human hearing spectrum and ability to detect vibrations. My GT is parked for the winter but we ran it up to 2000 rpm and there was zero response. He said watch this - he ran his finger on the dash and the scope spiked. Of course there were engine and drivetrain noises that he accounted for but zero in any form of noise cancellation or augmentation. My 2 cents.
Your car is parked for the winter? Did you consider that perhaps the system only works when the car is in gear and/or moving?

I had a Caddy CT5-V Blackwing, which has interior engine noises sent through the speakers. It was most evident when driving with the windows down, as the apparent engine/exhaust sounds were less noticeable. Driving the Mustang with the windows down, the exhaust noise is increased, the exact opposite (and what I'd expect to hear).

I'm not saying that there isn't any enhancement going on, I'm just suggesting that it's quite subtle. Then again, I was in quiet mode, so it could adjust for that. OK, the more I think about it, you know, never mind. LOL

@BimmerDriver ..... I always appreciate the comments of others. I learn every day by listening to others' points-of-view and always appreciate the time taken by other posters to offer suggestions. As you correctly stated I could not drive GT to test it in gear under load on the highway. I did put it in gear and shifter D-R-N - but yes it was stationary. A more empirical test would be an on road test which I'll aim for in the spring. With profit margins on vehicles being so slim I can't see the value to Ford of piping engine sounds into a Mustang GT as they (5.0s) have always sounded great and the cost of doing so would not IMO make economic sense for something IMO that drivers who didn't have the hearing capabilities of a bat or whale :-) would ever notice.

I have yet to see a definitive yes or no on this subject. The only thing that seems to be agreed on is ANC on convertibles and sound enhancement on the Ecoboost, to make the 4 banger sound sweeter.

having either on a GT coupe doesn't make sense.

That said, the cabin noise in my GT is eerily quiet and has that vague feel that I get when I have noise cancelling headphones on, so I can't say anything for sure.

Ford says otherwise .

Yes, the 2024 Mustang GT uses an electronic sound enhancement system, especially if it is equipped with the optional B&O sound system. This system amplifies engine sounds and plays them through the speakers, and it is separate from the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system that is also present in some models.

Electronic Sound Enhancement (ESE)
  • What it is: A system that amplifies and plays engine sounds through the car's audio speakers.
  • How it works: It is a digital enhancement rather than a physical sound tube, and it adds to the perceived engine noise inside the cabin.
  • Affected systems: The ESE system is confirmed for models with the B&O system, but it is also mentioned in relation to GT models with the standard sound system.
Do you have to have the "Audio" ON? Like pressing the Audio dial on the right? Or does the noise gets pumped either way if the stereo is ON or OFF? This is very interesting...

As in is there a recordable difference if the speakers are disconnected?

I've been wondering that same thing..how does it work exactly, I could understand noise canceling to keep cabin noises down, but to increase or otherwise make any other artificial engine sounds is pretty silly, except maybe on a 6 banger or 4. Even then with a turbo/super charger it's gotta sound nice all by its lonesome. It is interesting 🤔

When I did my system I had to get in the back seat, pull down the magnetic roof liner from the middle and unplug the ANC device up there.

I was getting feedback and that solved it.

It is on all the time , I can tell there is a synthetic exhaust sound . a lot of other threads on here about it.

Ok , so I messaged Ford directly , and they said the same thing others have said , I will need Forscan to disable the ESE. They recommended I go through a Ford service department .
