The OP purchased a used car, the laws apply differently to them.

That's a myth. I lemoned mine after 1 week. Just call ford and say this is unacceptable and you want your money back.
I really hope this is possible! I either want a fix as soon as possible or my money back for a replacement. I will give it a try. Is there anything you did in particular that helped you get it done quicker?

I had the 23 Ecoboost and it started leaking oil at around 7k miles (some tiny spots in the engine bay but did not trigger me), it was up until 15k miles that was an obvious oil leak. I took it to the dealer where they seal the gasket (it took about 3 days of work) and then it was leaking again I took it to the dealer again and the same day I called ford and I told them I don't feel safe. They offer me money and I get to keep the car and they will keep try to fix it or a buy back. I chose the later and went with the 24 GT. Just call them and say you pay all this money to enjoy the car but you aren't . Tell them you want your money back and that you don't feel safe to drive in the car. just don't go through a lawyer. Layers will claim they will do it for free but they will actually get paid thought the rebates. Call ford and maybe you can also get a discount for another car.

I'm also planning to get a GT if all goes well. I will try this and let you know. You never know unless you ask!

Man, sorry to hear about the issues you've been having.
Since the BCM is supposed to affect the lighting, did you ever notice any adverse issues or lighting issues leading up to this? I would assume so since there was corrosion in the pictures.

I take mine in Monday to get the recall fix done. Already had my windshield replaced due to a rock, and I swear its better sealed than factory. That rearview mirror shaking issue disappeared...completely after that replacement.

I had no idea or didn't see any signs that there was any water intrusion or issues besides maybe my roof interior lights being finicky a day or two before I took it in but that's honestly a stretch at best.

Is there a particular department/person you spoke to do this? Just trying to make sure I talk to the right people about this.

They make other Mustangs too. Probably a nice long line of Mustangs to fix and they'll get to yours in 2 weeks!

To my knowledge, its not a matter of other cars in line in front of me. The dealer supposedly knows how to fix it, but Ford is straight up not providing any instructions or approval for them to fix it.

You purchased a used car from a Ford Dealership on Oct. 1 when the recall was officially issued at that point. So they knowingly sold you a car with an open recall that wasn't fixed before they sold it. They figured they would get it sold and then it's your problem.

Demand your money back because a dealer shouldn't sell a vehicle with an open recall. I would be raising holy hell.

There is a thread here that posted the 14 page official manual Ford issued on how to "fix" the issue. It sounds to me that Ford just can't source replacement BCM's. They'd rather put them in new cars and make that money.

I worked in complex manufacturing for a good part of my career, some of it as a Tier 1 supplier to Ford. From experience, it just isn't that hard to do things right. It does take peole that care. The factor that matters the most is WHO is putting hands on cars. In our case, it is UAW members.

I refused to work where there was a union. In a UAW plant, it's a matter of who really controls who and the constant and mostly "contrived issue" bickering. I've been in Ford and other UAW plants and they're a bunch of slovenly over-paid slobs in my not very humble opinion.

So, that is how you make a leak to fuk up a computer. It isn't Ford, it's people, who are Ford. Stupidity is expensive.

OP - you are officially the first person I've personally heard of with water damage. Sorry to hear about this. ☹

In looking at you pictures, I didn't see anything jumping out at me that was the water damage in question. The second picture is also blury. Can you point to what I'm missing?

@Starship Enterprise is absolutely correct. That recall was in effect when you bought it. The dealer should NOT have sold you the car. They are 100% on the hook for this. Was it a Ford dealer? If they won't buy back the car, you have a huge legal case in your pocket.

Unfortunately this makes up my mind that I won't be taking my car in for this recall service until i know they have replacement parts available. If there is even a small chance they keep your car after finding damage, it's simply not worth it. Ford needs to get their shit together. What an absolute cluster f**k.
