Hello there. I’m just reaching out because I’m curious if anyone has been in my situation like mine. I recently purchased a Ford Gold Certified 2024 Ford Mustang eco boost with only 13,002 miles on it on October 1st, 2025. It’s a great car but now with the recall I’m one of the unlucky few to actually have water damage on the BCM module. I knew about the recall before purchasing the vehicle but had no idea about water intrusion/damage. Wanting to avoid any potential issues, I took it in to a dealer on October 20th for inspection and to complete the fix. I was quickly informed later on in the day that the vehicle had water intrusion and the BCM was showing water damage. I could not drive it at all until it was fixed and I was given a loaner (ford escape).
They told me they could not make any fixes without fords approval. It has been 18 days since and there’s no fix from ford in sight and I have been in a loaner vehicle ever since. The dealer has told me there was nothing they could do without Ford’s approval first since it was a recall. I also confirmed with other dealers in my area that they are in the same position as well and nothing can be done until Ford says so. I have been in contact with corporate and they are pretty much telling me the same thing and not giving me any answers.
The main thing that confuses me is that within the official letter to dealers and NHTSA recall letter it already outlines what needs to be done for it be fixed but then it says a fix for “effected” vehicles is not available yet and will be in the “4th quarter of 2025”. This could also easily be next year and result in multiple months out of my Mustang when I had only driven it for less than 20 days and 300 miles.
I have been considering a lemon law scenario if I don’t get any progress within the next 15-30 days which is covered by my state (Florida) for CPO vehicles with an active warranty. I have also considered a buyback process in the event the fix takes way longer to be released. Has anyone else had their Mustang held by Ford for this recall? This whole thing just seems like a mess by Ford and makes no sense to me.
A side note: Am I the first confirmed mustang to have confirmed BCM module water damage? Just asking out of curiosity.
