Hello there. I’m just reaching out because I’m curious if anyone has been in my situation like mine. I recently purchased a Ford Gold Certified 2024 Ford Mustang eco boost with only 13,002 miles on it on October 1st, 2025. It’s a great car but now with the recall I’m one of the unlucky few to actually have water damage on the BCM module. I knew about the recall before purchasing the vehicle but had no idea about water intrusion/damage. Wanting to avoid any potential issues, I took it in to a dealer on October 20th for inspection and to complete the fix. I was quickly informed later on in the day that the vehicle had water intrusion and the BCM was showing water damage. I could not drive it at all until it was fixed and I was given a loaner (ford escape).

They told me they could not make any fixes without fords approval. It has been 18 days since and there’s no fix from ford in sight and I have been in a loaner vehicle ever since. The dealer has told me there was nothing they could do without Ford’s approval first since it was a recall. I also confirmed with other dealers in my area that they are in the same position as well and nothing can be done until Ford says so. I have been in contact with corporate and they are pretty much telling me the same thing and not giving me any answers.

The main thing that confuses me is that within the official letter to dealers and NHTSA recall letter it already outlines what needs to be done for it be fixed but then it says a fix for “effected” vehicles is not available yet and will be in the “4th quarter of 2025”. This could also easily be next year and result in multiple months out of my Mustang when I had only driven it for less than 20 days and 300 miles.

I have been considering a lemon law scenario if I don’t get any progress within the next 15-30 days which is covered by my state (Florida) for CPO vehicles with an active warranty. I have also considered a buyback process in the event the fix takes way longer to be released. Has anyone else had their Mustang held by Ford for this recall? This whole thing just seems like a mess by Ford and makes no sense to me.

A side note: Am I the first confirmed mustang to have confirmed BCM module water damage? Just asking out of curiosity.

I also provided some photos below for your reference.

Sorry to read about your misfortune. It seems unreasonable for them to hold your car, but at least you've got a loaner!

My understanding is that Ford had a fix for the recall, but that it isn't working. If true and I were in your shoes, I'd start a buyback...

Sorry for your situation. The fix that can be completed in 5-6 hours is the addition sealing to avoid possible water intrusion to the BCM. Since yours has the water intrusion in the BCM MY GUESS is that the delay is getting the replacement BCM.

Yours is the first one that I’ve heard about with water in the BCM impact. 🥲🥲🥲

Thank you for posting this. I intend to check mine this weekend and hopefully will not find any issues.

I hope ford is planning on either replacing those connecters with new pigtails or cleaning them out with a good contact cleaner or the corrosion will leech to the new BCM and more than likely wreak havoc down the road. Best wishes! Keep us posted!

A couple of additional thoughts on your EcoBoost.
1. The BCM connectors show the water intrusion, but the most troubling damage could perhaps be internal to the BCM.
2. Just curious if your car reflected any other potential issues with water? The underhood picture just got me thinking and wondering: Could this car have been exposed to unusual amounts of water? Do you know the history of this vehicle?

This is the picture that seemed to reflect more water/dirt. I put 48k miles on my 22 EcoBoost and it was very clean under the hood.

Not sure about your state, but in Texas, lemon law and buybacks do not apply to used vehicles.
I'm sure the BCM availability is the issue. Call Ford customer service at 800-392-3673 and get a case started, they may be able to help the dealer get it resolved a bit quicker.

Hello all thank you for your replies! I just put in a buyback request not too long ago and still awaiting an answer for Ford. I also sent the Motor Vehicle Defect Letter for Florida on Monday. This is the official Ford response that my dealer got regarding the recall and my vehicle. Really doesn't look like this is getting fixed anytime soon. :crying:

I'm hoping something can be done with the vehicle as its not new (CPO) but with it still being under original warranty and inside 24 months of the original delivery date in Florida there could be something that could help me besides just a Ford buyback.

Although I'm hoping it just gets fixed ASAP and I can avoid further headaches because I really do miss my 'Stang. I have been in frequent contact with their service team ever since the 1 week and half mark into having my car gone and they really aren't much help besides helping me initiate my buyback request. No one besides whoever the dealer is in contact with really has an answer regarding a fix for my vehicle. This just makes things more frustrating and makes me believe this recall was very rushed and has no concise fix besides the sealant applications I have seen for vehicles that don't have any water damage. I just hope that no one else has to keep the pony in the barn for a long time like me.

Good catch. I didn't really notice this until you brought it up, its definitely questionable but at the same time it was "inspected" for the CPO and had a clean title/carfax and no further signs of water damage. However, I may have to do some more digging here. Thank you for mentioning this.

From what I have seen, It looks my car is patient zero here. According to the official recall paperwork, Ford estimated that 1% of the 105,000+ mustangs affected would have water intrusion damage so I guess I'm one lucky dog!

I hope so! Thank you for the kind words. I also wish you luck with your recall when you decide to get it done! May your BCM be corrosion free!

It looks like I may have to do so if it is possible and not fixed soon. It has been 18 days, they have a week to fix it until I can start filing a claim.
That's a myth. I lemoned mine after 1 week. Just call ford and say this is unacceptable and you want your money back.
