Actually it's closer to 400hp than 500hp.
In Europe and OZ.
But we've been down this road before. Drivetrain losses are a given, so whether power is quoted at the crank or wheels is pretty much irrelevant. Excepting that crank HP measured under controlled conditions is more accurate and consistant.

Interesting!

+1! I am hesitant to ever just stomp on it and see what happens. I have gotten familiar enough with Normal Mode to know how far down to press the gas pedal to get the desired drop-down gear for passing. It is proportional.

Almost done with break-in so plan to reprogram shift points with different driving Style as well.
Starship, you just need to go out and put a couple of thousand hard highway miles on it with twisties included. Your car is going to rust out with a frozen engine at the rate you're going. LOL!!! 😁

I know…but it’s tough to put a lot of miles on it when my back locks up if I drive for more than an hour. Though the seats are way more comfortable than my 06 GT, so I am slowly increasing seat time and seeing how it goes. In general my back does not tolerate sitting well. It’s frustrating.

I had debated whether to even bother getting a new car as it would be in so many words, wasted on me. But here we are, and I’m trying to get out there more often. I AM glad I got this car though, because it really made driving exciting again. I love driving it! I dare say with all the power and sportiness, the ride is near as smooth as my wife’s new Lincoln.

In Europe they also measure hp by the crank.

I'm not discussing crank vs hp. You guys missed the point.

People here were saying that a 500hp car on the road is a lot of horsepower. It's not 500hp, its close to 400hp.

The point I was making is that if a car makes 1000hp at the crank but only 50hp on the wheels (I know these numbers are ridiculous, but it's just for you to understand), it's stupid to say that you are driving a fast 1000hp car and it is barely controlable on the public roads, since you are only making 50hp on the wheels.

So yes, it's nice to see on paper that your car is almost 500hp, but the car doesn't get close to 500hp in real time.

Ryan‘s comments had me intrigued about trying Track Mode. I tried it today, and wow! it was really cool! IMO it was much better behaved than Sport Mode. I didn’t drive it hard, just in normal traffic, and it upshifted nice and evenly spaced shifts, not 5 shifts in the first 3 seconds like Normal Mode does, and hitting the brakes resulted in really cool downshifts with exhaust pops and everything.

Maybe not as fun for my wife as passenger as it gets a little jerky in the downshifts, but she thought it was cool. Damn if it wasn’t like driving yet another new car!

Track Mode also was much more linear and predictable than Sport Mode. When driving Sport Mode I had no idea what it was going to do next.

Whether driven hard or gentle…. Track Mode was fun as hell! And had no bad surprises.

Does it really matter that "the car doesn't get close to 500hp" ? Is there a real reason to be so contrary? If you think I'm bragging about horsepower, you're missing the point and I don't appreciate being called stupid. Get off of it. What's the real point in stating the real horsepower is "only" 400 or whatever else is pulled out of the air? I guess that really matters....to some people. 🤣

It’s a moot point and derailing the fun of this thread.
Exactly. Reading and comprehension is a skill. Nevertheless, Starship, as you put miles on your car, put it in track mode just for grins. It’s a beast, LOL! 🤣🤣
