It was a fairly common issue with S197s with the worst result being constant battery drain and inability to start, among what other random issues popped up. So it is technically a 20 year old issue, but as you say…an intermittent one.

But….It’s also an issue that can pop up 1 year or 10 years into ownership.

There are a number of youtube videos showing people pulling badly water damaged BCM modules out of the passenger footwell in S197’s.

(I know this part is speculation, but who’s to say their 2018 Mustang won’t develop a corroded BCM at some point?)
I'm aware of that on the early S197s. My point still stands.

May not have been technically a 20-year issue but I get the sentiment: Ford is messing up even the basics.

Like when 2024's came out with bumper/headlight gaps (basic body fitment, not space-age technology), and the rear bumpers all had ripples along the quarter panel seams. Or how my 2024 had a coolant leak due to poor assembly, and a defective rear axle due to poor assembly (with a TSB spanning since model year 2017). Or how even my 2025 had a driveshaft issue due to poor lubrication/assembly (with a TSB of the same issue from 2018 Expeditions).

This ain't fancy next-gen technology, it's the very basics of assembling cars that Ford continues to screw up.

I can't imagine how half-assed, drunk, high, or whatever's going on at Ford that they're messing up the basics.

I can easily afford basically any car and choose to keep buying new Mustangs because I intentionally seek out the low-tech, simple, traditional, doin'-it-the-same-way-forever car precisely to avoid the glitches and imperfections of new things. But even with the most conservative basic old-school fun car, Ford is still messing things up left and right.

I don't want disposa-trash lease-bait, I want a car I can cherish and enjoy for a long time. But Ford would make less money building properly-QC'd vehicles, so it isn't going to happen.

I get your point. So after 2014, Ford got it right for 8 years and then forgot how…lol.

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other instance where a car was physically prevented from getting in a customer’s hands let alone for a 1% chance of an issue maybe happening.

Again, I ask the question...CAN I SELL MY 2024 GT Premium to a private owner with a pending or actual recall on my car?
Can I trade my 2024 at a dealership?
Does this recall stop all transactions on 2024/2025 Mustangs???

Welp, thats it for me fellas. I'll still lurk the forums, but I have zero faith in Ford and its electronics. I'm going back to older cars without 10 miles of wiring and 50 different computers controlling everything. Shame too, the engine and chassis are solid. These cars just can't be good news after 10 years of ownership, and I'm not taking that chance.

I'll still be around to throw wiring diagrams and whatever else into the forums if I see someone needs it for any reason.

What a piece of sh__. Can not get a car wet since August until whenever they figure it out and your dealer and fix it. GREAT for a 70k car. I can not believe I own one of these piece of crap.
I can do better.

Yes you can trade it in. No, you cannot buy a new mustang with the recall.

For anyone who is currently overreacting to this recall to the point of wanting to throw their entire Mustang away, I will gladly provide a one-time offer to rehome these vehicles free of charge.

Just have it shipped directly to my driveway and I'll take care of the rest. It's the least I can do.
