I'm aware of that on the early S197s. My point still stands.It was a fairly common issue with S197s with the worst result being constant battery drain and inability to start, among what other random issues popped up. So it is technically a 20 year old issue, but as you say…an intermittent one.
But….It’s also an issue that can pop up 1 year or 10 years into ownership.
There are a number of youtube videos showing people pulling badly water damaged BCM modules out of the passenger footwell in S197’s.
(I know this part is speculation, but who’s to say their 2018 Mustang won’t develop a corroded BCM at some point?)
