When I got the recall notice on my 06 GT for the Takata airbags, the first time was something like “ Your airbag can explode, we don’t have a replacement, um…yeah…good luck and don’t hit nothin’”

Then when passenger airbag recall came, they said basically… “yeah, um, your passenger airbag is also a potential bomb and um, no, we don’t have a replacement for that either yet. Our solution? Don’t take a passenger in your car.”

What a joke.

They eventually replaced both airbags..TWICE each side. The first two were temp fixes…most likely still Takatas the first time as a temp fix, because Takata airbags were only dangerous as time passed, as the propellant they used became more volatile over time.

So holding your car because a headlight MIGHT go out is overkill IMO.

I was stationed in Germany when that recall was going on. It added a whole new level of complexity to getting the recall done on my Edge when parts became available.

How long between the time you were notified of the recall and the remedy being available?

Nobody knows. GUIDANCE isn’t even scheduled now until Q1 of 2026 and that’s when they will be able to tell us WHEN a fix is available

Sooo.. anyone know if this could impact registration renewal?? Reason I ask is my registration will be due in a couple months and in CA if this is considered a "safety" recall it wont allow you to renew until recall has been addressed.

I can't imagine that would be an issue since there is no fix. Plus the recall doesn't say not to drive the car.

With a 16 gal tank, when I fill up at halfway, I know about 8 gallons will go in. I’ll throw in 7 just to leave some room just in case there’s a faulty shut off. I almost always manually shut off the flow.

And I don’t feel as bad spending under $40…lol.
Yeah, spending half as much twice as often is a real saving

Isn't the recall about possible water intrusion? I thought they just have to inspect for water intrusion? So if it's not intruding then all good ?? LOL ?

I was able to go to a Ford dealer just outside Ansbach once the parts became available.

IIRC, it was almost two years, since I had to print out the recall notice showing that the parts were not available in order to ship my Edge to Germany.
