Has anyone enlarged their air filter front grill openings filter inlet?

I was wondering if anyone had increased intake air flow to the air cleaner with a dermal tool?
It seems like the front grill intake areas are restricted a lot.
It looks like it would be easy to increase your intake flow by 50%.

I think Ford did it for a good reason. To make sure inlet air is proportional to exit air. Exit air is supposed to be at least 3X more flow than inlet, at least that applies to RC plane fuselage cooling. But a dynamic principle is a dynamic principle.

I think if it’s opened more the air will dam up at the inlet.

I know they make inlet grill delete lighting pods, but who knows if they tested airflow?

I’d leave it alone. Even if it was beneficial, the hp gain would be so minimal you’d never notice. ….at least IMHO….

I don't think it makes a difference as far as causing harm goes. Its another feel good mod so go ahead and let us know how it goes

I think they are open on the Dark Horse because that was part of Ford's marketing department they were supposed to be the horse's nostrils.

I will do some pics before and after to show the increase in flow area. I am sure there will be no, seat of the pants, performance gains.

However anytime I can move more colder air into my engine in Florida I will make more house power

i don't know if this ends up being a real issue in practice. the GT makes enough power to overheat the oil and transmission fluid without the performance package when you do some more aggressive spirited driving, so it's not like the reduced gaps really impact power output in a meaningful way. plus, Ford's engineers may make some questionable choices, but they're not idiots. there may be something to this that makes a ton of sense but we don't know what it is
