The one downside to an automatic vs a manual is that neutral shift and rev. Is this possible with an automatic? I've done it in other cars but not the S650
If I remember correctly, some of the older automatics could rev if you hold both +/- paddle shifters at the same time. My current S650 does not do this. Maybe this can be added with a tune, now that they are available. Someone smarter than me might be able to answer this.

On the Corvette from General motors, you're able to pull both paddle shifters in and then press the gas in order to free rev. Can you not do that in this car?
I read the exact same thing and tried on my S650 a month or 2 ago

You guys are thinking of dual clutch auto's and yes they'll free rev if you hold both paddles but the A10 doesn't do that unfortunately. With a torque converter auto like the A10 you can put it in neutral while moving(or still) and free rev just make sure the RPM's drop down to idle for a second or two before going back to drive or it'll lurch forward something fierce.

As mentioned, the only S550 to do this is the GT500 as it's a DCT. Automatic S550s and S650s do not allow you to rev the engine by pulling in both paddles.

You can shift the car into neutral to free rev while driving, however.

My e90 M has a DCT and I don't see the point in doing this. Am I missing something?

The rev matching is nice sounding, but far more fun with the 6MT in the 2025 GT and the S2000.

No clue if that is a "feature" for the automatics.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was, kind of seems like something engineers would figure out.
Just get the slow transmission so you can rev and have endless fun. 🕹

I'm guessing this rev bombing is youthful exuberance?
One of my pet hates with modern bikers is rev bombing instead of using the horn.
Sure, it's much safer to pull in the clutch, rev the nuts off the bike, and hoping you don't have to brake and swerve suddenly, than press a horn button.

Is there some practical application for doing this of which I am unaware?
Everyone that drives by me slows down, rev's their car, then goes away. Just wanna talk back to the other stangs
