People need to stop obsessing over these temps and second guessing Ford engineers. And they also need to stop conflating oil temp and cylinder head temp. The only reason why it's even a discussion is because we now have a guage I'm front of our face 24/7. Before the S650 came out, no one ever gave it a second thought unless you had a GT350.

And the people putting oil coolers on non PP cars need to understand that oil temp is determined by a computer algorithm, not an actual dedicated sensor. So if you add a cooler, the computer won't know that or factor it into its calculations unless you do a software update.
You would have a point if it didn't engage limp mode at "oil temp 280f" but it does so i have to believe that the algorithm is correct as a fail safe is activated for reaching that algorithmic temp.

I never said the algorithm wasn't correct. I was speaking to the average owner who doesn't know what normal oil temp even is and is stressing out over the reading.

Your experience soumds very abnormal. You are the only one I've heard of with temps getting that high and is going into limp mode. I would definitely take my car to the dealer if that happened to me. Please keep us updated.

I have a s650 non pp at just over 16k, its temps hover at 235 while cruising with ambient temp of 78 on flat freeway at 75 mph. The temps have only been rising since i passed the 10k miles mark. I cant do a full canyon run anymore as temps regularly reach 280f. Ive complained to ford multiple times as it drops me into limp mode...

At 10k miles the average temp was roughly 210
Spirited it reached 230

At 13k miles it was 230
Spirited it reached 265

Now at 16k its 235
Spirited it reaches 287 (limp mode kicks at 280)

I think they need to recall them to get the oil coolers put on.
What did Ford reply with when you told them that it reached 280? Mine reached 273 after some pulls, it probably would have reached 280 as well. I was going to bring it in and see what Ford says to me.

2025 DH: Ambient temp 83-84 F
Mixed driving last night between ST RT and Interstate. Did some very minor pulls and steady 75-80MPH.
Oil temps ranged between 190-197*. Whatever Fordā€˜s calibration for the DH (and PP I’m sure) seems to be spot on. Like I said I didn’t push it hard I’d say some spirited driving but the DH didn’t even break a sweat even with a WOT approaching 100.

The one thing I have to hand it to Ford they did a fantastic job with the stock CAI. IAT’s never went above 1* ambient.

The IAT’s are way up there.
Bigger question is why is the oil pressure so low? What oil and how long since the last oil change?

That pressure was at warm idle, and is totally normal. It was exactly the same on my 23 M1 with full synthetic.

Just under 2k I believe. Why?
I’ve run Mobil 1 for years and have had great success. If you look at the cST of Mobil 1 it is on the thin side of a 30wt oil. In AZ I’d recommend Castrol it is on the high side of a 30wt and it is Ford of Europes oil.

The PP oil coolers do make a difference. My GT PP has a FP/Whipple stage 1. At 94* ambient after a few hard pulls oil temps never went higher than 218*.

A man who knows Cst's. Super important in selecting fork oil.
Good to hear, where did you find engine oil ratings?
