First time I've ceramic coated a car and first car I want to wash on my own. I have purchased the following

- Karcher K1700 Cube pressure washer
- EGO 615 CFM leaf blower
- Adam's Polishes Mega Foam
- Rag Company Microfiber Towel for car
- Rag Company Waffle Microfiber Towel for windows
- Invisible Glass glass cleaner

My process is

- pressure wash entire car
- soap entire car with pressure washer
- rinse off with pressure washer
- use leaf blower to remove most of the water
- use microfiber towel to dry rest of car
- use glass cleaner with waffle microfiber for all windows

Is that process good?

I also need help with getting the right equipment and washing procedure for my tire/rims and interior. Any suggestions?

My process is:

1) wait for heavy rainfall.
2) Move MDH out of the garage.
3) wait for rain to end
4) Move MDH back into the garage.

I’m only half joking because in South Texas, it’s year round drought restrictions. It’s a cr@p ton of work to get my (beer) hops to grow without being ā€œsun murderedā€. we went 61 days without meaningful rainfall until today- we got about .1ā€ today :-/

Honestly, that’s fine by me because I detest washing vehicles. I respect all the folks who can make a bike/car/truck pop and shine but that isn’t me. I will wash, wax and ceramic coat, but, I never shine tires, or clean exhaust other than on my bikes and that’s just wiping off road grime.
I wash the car, using microfiber cloth - sometimes several if it’s really dirty, wheels get done --last, so as to keep those contaminants off my actual paint. air dry with a blower, then ā€˜towel’ dry with microfiber towels. Then it’s wax on, wax off; whether it’s ceramic or a refresh.

Step 1: Foam cannon, allow to dwell for ~5 minutes
Step 2: Rinse
Step 3. Foam cannon 2nd time, no rinse
Step 4: Hand wash with appropriate microfiber mitt*
Step 5: Final rinse
Step 6. Dry with leaf blower w/ Stubby Nozzle

* No need for 2-bucket method if you START with foam cannon as described in Step 1; Do use a grit trap

If your leaf blower doesn't have some filter, you are gambling with danger,

? A filter is to filter the air from things that would blow through and scratch your paint.

Guess I better go to Las Vegas as I have used a leaf blower on my cars for over 30 years and never had a problem. No filter. The less you touch your paint the less chance of scratches and swirls. For anything left behind for touch up make sure any product used is a lubricant like drying agent.

Step 1: type in "car wash" on Google Maps
Step 2: pay $8 for cheapest, most basic wash
Step 3: look at cool lights and foam colors in the tunnel
Step 4: get told how terrible I am on the forums

When washing at home....
Rinse off with hose
Guestimate some car wash in a Home Depot bucket
Fill bucket with sprayer attachment; get soapy water all over my clothes
Use a mitt to wash the car 1/4 at a time
Rinse with hose
Use one of those shammy's to dry (gets really hard once dry not sure what the material is called)
Use a sponge to clean wheels and get carpel tunnel
Break fingers trying to clean Calipers, give up and have some dust remaining behind wheel spokes

After both: look how clean and sexy my car is : )

@Lakersfreak ..... a leaf blower picks up and dirt in the air and fires it, with velocity, at your freshly washed car. To pre-dry I use two big microfiber towels (beach towel size) that I just drape over the car and drag them across with no pressure on them (takes 5 minutes tops) then small microfiber cloths to final dry and a few more to buff. All "towels" are washed dried and stored in a plastic bag. Two things I would never do: #1. Use a pressure washer - they are deadly to vehicle paint, house siding and decks. IMO 99% of people have no idea how to use them and we used them in the construction company I owned to CEMENT finish along with muriatic acid - yeah cement surfacing - not my Mustang's paint. #2. Never use any blown air source unless it is highly filtered ie NOT a leaf blower (aka motorized sander) or just as bad a drying nozzle on an air compressor.......I guess #3 would be a belt sander but if you do #1 and #2 you could have saved a step and just used a belt sander in the first place :-(

Total bologna.

There are car detailing pressure washers made specifically for this purpose. The key is low pressure and high GPM water flow.

You need a filter on a leaf blower, but nothing is in the air when you drive 80MPH down the road? ROTF!
