You mean they'll go for the cheaper foreign option.

This is real world effects. I own businesses and it's clear as day.
My good man, if that is what’s gonna happen and the Mustang dies, then that is what is gonna happen.

Well congrats, you get to pay for their raises when you buy your mustang. Oh I forgot, you don't want to pay their wages, so youll get the foreign car.
Or and I’m gonna get an insane reply for this: the entire c suite can reduce their pay and the company can reduce other costs to offset. But we both know executives will never do that.

Exactly, and everyone gets laid off.

See how these policies affect business...

This is only slightly related, but the amount of financial waste in corporate America has been absolutely egregious at every company I've worked for.

They could get paid zero and it wouldn't put a dent in the prices. The volume is incredibly high.

Again, nobody cares what it cost in 2018 when inflation was 1.9%. The inflationary period that affected everything was mainly 2021 and 2022 when inflation rates were 7% and 6.5% respectively, and the price of a Mustang GT has outpaced inflation, period. Additionally, the price isn't really 45K since the actual MSRP includes destination, so the real lowest MSRP you can possibly get for a 2024 GT is $47,750.

EDIT: The bigger issue to me isn't the base price, it's the price creep associated with cars that have a handful of options on them and/or Dark Horse models. Ford's price increases mean that the Mustang can be directly priced in the range of cars like the M2, M3, and Corvette, which isn't good for the brand, IMO. I'm a Mustang enthusiast and I want to see the brand grow and be successful. Pricing your car into a new level of competition is simply going to drive some customers away. Ford needs to be thinking of ways to get people into the brand instead of pushing them to the competition.
This is what Stellantis did and it bit them in the @ss. Ford is on a similar path with the higher trims of the Mustang.

The DH vs C8 dilemma (for Ford) is the same as the special BMW M3/M4 editions. I'm simply not going to spend $120+k on a BMW because that's Porsche 911 territory. I'm just going to go with the better platform.

Every make has their optimal price range. For the higher trims of the Mustang, this is the $45-55k price range - because it's an amazing product for that target range. Once you go above $60k, you're really competing against the M2/M3 and C8.

Layoffs are a direct result of corporate greed and poor planning. If you are financial planning and do not take into account every possible scenario, including a recession, then you are awful at your job. You’re really sitting here and saying the ford finance team could not account for a union deal? Sounds to me like they’re really bad at their jobs then. And once again, I as a consumer should not care about how a business works. All a consumer cares about is the product and how much it is being offered for.

They did account for a union deal and raised prices. Congrats! You got what you wanted, but now you don't want to support the workers? So you buy a foreign car where they don't have unions? Shame...

🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly, like this isn’t some crazy conclusion we are all coming to. It’s been proven time and time again. It’s exactly why American OEMs are frightened at the prospect of Chinese EVs entering the market. Cheaper will always attract the consumer

Sure, and I’ll be happy that ford is paying these workers more. Kill the Mustang and kill any high cost vehicles and only sell F150s which print money. Again, like this argument you’re trying to pull with buying a foreign car being bad is ridiculous.

I'm not saying its bad, I'm pointing out how ridiculous it is to complain when prices raise when you love the new union deal lol

That would definitely be the 2000-2006 E46 generation. It was light, nimble and the S54 engine made 333 N/A horsepower at 8,000rpm.
Huh, never would've guessed. Cool. A shame the E92 doesn't get as much love, but I'll admit I pretty much like that gen just because I've come to love the sound of V8s in general.

You can definitely have both if you’re a good business. Other car companies have done this as well, as someone stated above Chevy is tied to the same union deal. They worked it out. And like I said above, if they killed the Camaro for that and the Mustang dies, then it is what it is man. That’s what happens if you are a business. You can’t throw the consumer and your workers under the bus. As a business owner, tell me what would happen if you increase the price of your product. Would you keep that product in circulation if the price increase meant your demand is gonna go down?

You do realize if the mustang is killed off, its not good for the workers at the flat Rock plant right?

Guess what? Camaro and Challenger were killed so no, GM and Dodge couldn't make it work out. But the foreign competitors still have theirs. Wonder why lol

If I were Ford, I'd raise the price until it breaks even since the economy is in the tank. Or Id raise it a good amount and use the capital to invest in the s750 for 2030. Which they could be doing.

I saw an interview not long ago where the designers of the 2024 mustang said they wanted to lower the whole car and the roof/body lines, but they didn't have the resources. So that may be the future. A higher end mustang. And they could be prepping the consumer right now for higher cost mustangs. I'm sure they've hammered out a strategy.
