i've had Nissans, Teslas, Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and a whole host of other vehicles try to race me. i dont usually humor them, but when i do, its usually in good fun. my favorite was the time i was neck and neck with a Porsche 911 GT3 manual until i let off.

then there's autocross, and thats a whole different game. things like miatas are setting the best times, but im only a second or so off the couple 911 GT3RS' that go there too, even if they are older 2016 models. i dont do full-on track racing, because that goes a bit too far out of my comfort zone, and is where you step into the "oil and diff fluid change after each event" territory from what i've heard

usually, though, im a good-ish egg compared to other AZ drivers. this state is still a wild west at heart, and i've been tailgated then passed by Phoenix Police cruisers doing 15+ over when im doing 10 over (the police here dont care about 10 over or less really, unless you're in Fountain Hills). signal early, be predictable, follow at a distance, that kind of stuff. of course, though, im still young, and the sound of that V8 revving high is really intoxicating. im sure i will mellow out as i get older

That's interesting. Altimas are a light snack, at best, for my 5.0 Coyote, let alone a Hellcat. I've had a couple Civic Sports and Type Rs try to bait me in, but it's wild to think of an Altima doing it. Kind of hilarious.
It's funny, because I traded in a 2020 Altima with the 2.0 VC Turbo. While yes my GT would easily out run it, I used to play with EB Mustangs all the time. If we went from a dig they would pull on me, but rolling I would stay with them all the way to 110 then their torque would be too much.

No one. They're usually trying to get past me and my speed-limit-adhering shenanigans.
LOL same... we should get a vanity plate that says PASS-ME because I'm not racing anyone outside of a track.

When I had my 2003 Cobra back in 2023, I came across two S650's

One still had the temp tag on it, got him to go and then I let him hear the blower as I left him

The other one the kid wouldn't even look over for almost 2 miles, then he did a ricer flyby. Must have traded a Civic in for his Mustang.

Those Terminator Cobras are no joke. Back when I was in my late 20s and had a Scat Pack and was more apt to do little races I had a guy come up to me in a Cobra. We took off from a 40 roll and I thought I'd pull away pretty easily. I definitely pulled ahead but he was right on my ass until I let up. I remember how surprised I was. But I believe those cars were also pretty underrated in regard to HP right? Factory they were 390hp but dynos and stuff were actually showing them at around 420hp or so.

Everyone at the road courses I go to is trying to race me and I love it! Nothing like putting a gap on a car with 200 more HP that costs twice as much or more, that feeling can't be replicated on the street so I don't even bother trying.

A 2018+ Mustang won't have a problem with a stock one but not many of them are stock anymore

I haven't noticed any one model in-particular. It's often the driver.

Large trucks of all kinds, but especially diesel RAM owners; they always seem to have to prove something.

Tesla owners, sometimes.

A Tercel, once. A Volvo estate wagon, once.

A few people that couldn't stand to be passed. No racing or displaying the intent. Attempting to simply glide by, 5-10 mph more. But they couldn't stand it and had to stay ahead.

A lot of drivers get really close from behind. My current working theory is, they think I'm haulin', so they're going to get a free tow. I tend to disappoint.

In general, I avoid all of the above and attempt to be as accommodating as possible. If someone is an a-hole, I leave it alone. Those attempting to move into a lane, I slow down and give them space. If someone is in the bike lane, I give them a large gap to the side and slow when passing. People with pets on the side of the road, same. Kids, I slow to a crawl.

I see myself as something of an ambassador, for motorsports in-general and the Mustang in-particular. I do not want to be or risk painting ourselves as one of "those people".

I have my moments. But anything I do that borders on "spirited" or greater, I do it when no one else is around. If a situation develops, the only parties involved are going to be me and my car.

If it gives someone happiness by them "winning" while I bring myself and the car home in one piece, it's been a good day.

You said you had a 2003 Cobra and is that a tan convertible cherry red Mustang?

I hear you there. Most importantly I'm just stoked that I get to drive my car. If people want to rev up and speed away, then they're more than welcome to. I'm just enjoying my ride until I get wherever I'm going.

I get that from young punks in their loud raspy mustang. They pull up and want to race my DH-P. I put my arm on my door and the see my rank and make the next turn off. Loud and raspy doesn't mean much, especially from a beat up car. My car may not have much HP now, put it's not stock and it can seriously move.
