So . . . an ESS Kit optioned correctly is $7,120.00. To have it tuned with purchase of the RTD, the tuner fees, and credits needed comes to $8,420.00, plus tax. Based on my tax rate this would total $9,346.00. Not sure if ESS charges shipping.

I emailed Beefcake racing and they quoted a complete turn-key Whipple Stage 1 (no, I know for sure I don't want the Stage 2) and was quoted $8639.00. Tax would bring this to $9588.00. Shipping is included. The tune is plug and play and includes 10R80 software revisions as well.

This is a difference of $242.00. I thought the ESS would be quite a bit less turn-key.

So what would you do?

Leave it naturally aspirated.

Which options do you have for the ESS kit? Also there’s no sales tax on the ESS system.

I’ve got you at $8250 to your door. Which includes the S650 G3 kit, RTD4 device, custom tuning, injectors and tax/shipping. Turn key for $1338 less with more room to grow and a better custom tune.

Whipple no question really, the kit and their new tune is as good as any custom tune I’ve ever ran, being able to run E30 in the perfect solution for all of us <1KHP cars… now if you’re trying to do more… different story

not to mention I was looking at the dyno charts and the centri kit is like 150 LESS RWTQ

THE TQ gains even low rpm cruising are one of the best aspects

I’m in the same boat but I’m leaning whipple with a custom tune once I’m ready. I have about a year before I pull the trigger and I’m sure a lot more info and tuning will come out before that time.

The low end torque of the Whipple is very appealing.

The offer from Brevin is also very attractive.

I've had a centri on my 2018 GT for the past 4 years, 21K trouble-free miles, and absolutely love it.

Roush would be a PD blower, so essentially the same performance wise as the Whipple.

For, me NA is not an option.

You need to think about how you will use your Mustang.

1. Daily driver plus a little fun here and there = Ford Performance / Whipple Stage 1
2 Daily driver plus occasional trip to local drag strip = Ford Performance / Whipple Stage 1
3. You're contemplating a Stage 1 S.C. which means your not looking to set records or have the fastest Mustang in your state.
4. Nothing wrong with turbocharging however my personal experience is they can be more finicky than say a F.P. / Whipple stage 1 or higher. My turbo experience is on H..P. Diesel trucks. I've swapped out and changed my far share of turbos including twins to single and back and forth etc.
5. The Ford Performance Whipple stage 1 is approaching or at the point of "tried and true".

I cast my vote on your poll as Whipple for the win.

I vote ESS. Whipple S650s are too common at the moment. It being cheaper is a plus

I had a 2019 Mustang GT Premium RoushCharged 720 hp that I purchased new at a Ford dealer. Loved it. Great power & torque. Nice daily driver manners. Had a problem. I think it was a recall. My local dealer couldn’t access the computer because it was proprietary. Had to take it farther away for a Roush associated dealer. Major hassle. Too far for pickup service or shuttle service to & from home. I became concerned that it would leave me stranded hundreds of miles from home with no Roush associated dealer nearby. Traded it. Beware of aftermarket products. Ford sponsored Whipple sounds better to me.

I know I'm late on this, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in, in case people refer to this thread later. I had an 18 with stage 2 Whipple PBD tune. People mention the low end TQ on the Whipple, this is true, except this is one of the reason I'm now looking at ESS. The low end TQ on the whipple made the car almost unstreetable. 325 rears would not hold anything over 1/4 throttle at any speed under 60 mph. When I drove with my drag radials, the rear end was so sloppy in turns, no fun and a little dangerous. Even on the biggest pulley and E85, I ran into heat issues. Stage 1 with the stock tune maybe more manageable, but if are like me, you say 600whp is cool its all I need, and within 2 years you are pushing over 800hp. Then the Whipple is a star at the track, but a KiA springer is going to beat you on the street and you'll never get more than half throttle. ESS appeals to me for the gradual TQ build, less heat, and much lighter.
