I'm 41 and have always been a sports car enthusiast, but for one reason or another have never owned one! Finally my youngest son is big enough now to be out of the booster seat, and my oldest has his own car now, so I saw my opportunity to finally get my 'Stang! It's a 2024 GT premium. I figured since this is my chance, go big or go home, so GT won out over Ecoboost.

25, and the only non-Mustang i've owned was a Subaru Legacy when i was new to driving. i used to have a beautiful 2022 Mach 1, but my... inexperience, to put it lightly... caused me to no longer have it. i used the insurance money to buy a 2022 EcoBoost Stealth Package, then ordered a Dark Horse as soon as i possibly could.

i still kinda beat myself up over what i did to the Mach 1, but maybe it was foolish to jump from a 256hp Boxer 6 AWD sedan to a 470hp V8 RWD coupe. i intend to keep the Dark Horse up to and past 100k miles, and not make that mistake again

It will be cool to see the average age of every owner here and the type of Mustang they drive.

I saw a post on another website last night, where this college kid posted a 25’ Dark Horse. With the caption “ what college kid can afford this?”, most of the comments were “Daddy‘s money!”, but that got my thinking. If people see a young person driving in your Mustang, and the immediate impression is daddy‘s money. What is the standard age of people buying a S650?

I’m 21 and just bought a 25’ 60th anniversary GT Premium Convertible. This was entirely my money, as I own my own business and I am lucky enough to make enough money to buy myself a nice car at a young age.
I was 16 when I got mine. I also have never lost my parents trust or done anything to warrant not having the car though so that makes a big difference compared to a lot of other people my age.

it has gone way up. I would say the average age is probably mid 40s at this point I almost never see young guys in Mustangs for every 25-year-old in a Mustang there’s 10 60-year-olds in mustangs which is why I say the average age is about 45.

I gave the Army 23 years, currently 44. Bought my first mustang before I joined the army at 21.🤷
It seems, from this thread at least, that soldiers buy Dark Horses. 😎

Rode motorcycles all of my life, particularly sport-touring and touring bikes while I was in my 50s and 60s. More than 200k fun miles all over the US!

My old body told me that it was time to give-up 2-wheel touring, and I decided that I still wanted the open-air experience, so a 4-wheel convertible sports car seemed to be the answer.

I’m 76 and have been cruising in Mustang convertibles for the past three years. First a 2022 Rapid Red Ecoboost convertible: ~48k fun miles. And now a 2025 Molten Magenta GT convertible. Love the open-air cruising, but at my age I also appreciate the soft top, heater, and AC when the weather is not cooperating!

63 here. This is my 3rd Mustang. 2025 GT, 6M, 301A, AE, NP, Iconic Silver, Space Gray Interior.

First Mustang, bought new, 1982 GT 5.0 HO black on black. Such a fun car to drive. It attracted a lot of attention on the street. Everyone wanted to race against it. Most fun was just easing away from a stop light, punching it and breaking the rear tires loose. The Michelin TRX's didn't have a chance at traction. Not much HP but it had good low end torque for the time.

Second Mustang bought used in the mid 2000's for $900 bucks, 1991 LX 5.0 Vert. Auto trans. Had planned to restore it but this pony was rode hard and put away wet. It sat in the garage for a few years. Then, life got in the way and ended up giving it to a buddy of mine at work for him and his kid to work on.

I'm 23 years into my government career and it just occurred to me that I've never owned a new Mustang. Ever. I had a '94, '95, '01, '03, and '13 all purchased well used. With prices they way they are now, the ONLY chance I'll have to get a new one is if I am really good over these next few years and purchase one as a retirement gift to myself.

When I started this job at age 23 I bought myself a brand new Ford Ranger FX4 (first year of the FX4 package) as a congrats on college graduation and finding a job gift to myself. Maybe a new Mustang GT will be a retirement gift to myself when I leave here.

Aside from the handful of rare exceptions, I just don't see how a 20 something guy or girl can afford to drop $55k on a car, especially an impractical car at a time in life when they're trying to get finances established and start a family. Pony cars were always supposed to be fast, fun, and cheap. The latter is a ship that has sailed.
