Peoria Ford is consistently one of the worst price gouging dealers in my area. Previously they have a 60th Anniversary marked at 80k. And now this...

Its a Hennessy. Which they dont even mention in the listing lol. But yes, its esentially a Super Charged GT with some carbon fiber.

Just looked it up and yeah, essentially a supercharger, a bunch of cf, and badges. No mention of upgraded half shafts or a driveshaft or exhaust or cooling or anything else. What a waste.

Some fool will purchase this thinking its a special edition on speculation it will increase in value without doing any research or understanding what they are buying....so sad so many dealers rip people off. But then again sad people have more money then brains.,

Peoria Ford has always been like this. They have a terrible reputation and other dealers dont even like to with them. They are literally a mile from my house and ive never purchased from there. The one time I went to look at a Mach 1 and it was all the stereotypical hard sell sales manager BS. They acted like I was buying a Lamborghini or something. I ended up buying another Mach 1 somewhere else and they kept calling me for 4 months after I told them i went with another car. I had to go in, in person and complain the store manger. Its just awful what they do to people there.

For years I lived in Virginia and my best friend owned Sterling Chevrolet, so I had no issues with getting exactly what I wanted. Well he moved away, sold dealership, and bought Mazda Dealership no interest, however he as many GM and Ford contacts. I moved to Florida and had no idea about the dealership down here. I first bought a Caddy XT4 and found a great dealership through my friend. Great price and great service. Sold my 2014 Corvette, and waited a few years as i know the 2026 model would be a winner. He found me another dealer and used the X-Plan so overall I have been very lucky with dealerships, but have visited many others and knew enough to walk away. SO MANY rip off dealerships here in Florida.. Buyer Beware.

I was floored by what FL dealers want for a DOC fee,

I tried to buy a used GT in FL before I decided on new

Found one, a little pricey, told them their doc fee was out of line, they wanted me to pay FL sales tax on a car that was going to be registered on NH

Where I work in the summer has a dealers license, and plates

It is a nice perk and where it is only the owner and me it is even better.

So I tell the FL dealer where the car was that I will pay full ask on the car, but they wholesale it to me on the NH dealer license. I'll wire transfer the funds, show up with out dealer plate and proof of insurance and it will be a painless deal. As a wholesale transaction it would be tax free. Dealers sell cars to out of state dealers all the time, it is not unusual.

They didn't want any part of it.

So I ended up buying a new one in MA, on X plan, price is fixed, doc fee is limited, did 90% of the sale in 10 minutes on a phone call, hopped in the car went down and looked at it, didn't even drive it, gave them 10 grand personal check and told them I'd be back on Monday with certified funds for the balance. Drove the car home on the dealer plate, went to town hall and registered it.

The funniest one was my 22 Toyota. Toyota was discontinuing the 3.5 V6 and I wanted one before they went way.

This was during COVID.

I'm in FL trying to get anyone at my local to me in NH Toyota dealer where I usually buy my Toyotas was impossible, I couldn't get a call returned.

I find a Highlander at a dealership in MA, one I dealt with frequently as an Insurance Appraiser. The Body Shop Mgr said if I ever needed a favor, ask. We were on very good terms, they were easy on me, I helped them out as much as I could.

So I call him up, he says give me a minute, he calls down to the showroom and talks to another family member ( family owned dealership) tells me call him.

Long story short they knock a grand off MSRP, which in the middle of COVID was a gift, most were selling above MSRP, $500 for the DOC fee which I had to pay if I wanted the car.

Car was in transport, it was arriving Thursday, they said they needed it off their books ASAP to get another allocation.

I tell him I am in FL I will be back in NH Sunday, I'll be there Monday morning at 9

Then he asks how I am paying for the car, I told him cash

The car was a little under 45 grand.

I have about 55 grand in cash on hand, I start banding $100 bills, put the cost of the car in my briefcase, and off I go to the dealer..... the sales mgr sits me down with the guy who is going to finish the sale.... sign this, sign here, initial here..... OK

Now we get to dollars and cents.

He asks for payment, I open my briefcase and put just shy of $45 grand on the desk in front of him.

uh uh uh uh Uhhhhh I can't accept that!

Hey I said I was paying cash, OK where is the nearest branch of my bank.... I'll be back in 30 minutes. Off to the bank I go, I deposit the money, they give me certified funds, I go back and get the C.O., run to town hall, get it registered, run back to the dealer with the wife and drive it over to the shop to put a NH Inspection sticker on it to make it legal...

So much for Cash Is King

Lol, yeah last time I paid cash for a new car, they were visibly angry... they did take it, the guy had another person count half. It's been checks since then.

When I bought my 2024 GT Premium Convertible they assumed I was going to finance it (which we all know they love) when they realized I was going to pay in full they paused. The salesman came back after talking with the sales manager and said OK we'll proceed. I was thinking WTF?After the sale he told me the price quoted was for financing and that they would have charged me 2K more had I told this to them in advance. @Neggytive and @Sofa King .....yeah agree - so much for cash is king. I had no problems paying full when I bought the 2026 GT premium convertible but that was a big dealer, they had 30 Mustangs for sale, so I guess they didn't give a ....

When my wife bought her Porsche out of state, she flew out to get it and drive it home

To make things easier she had them finance it, and as soon as she got home she got the payoff figure from the lender and paid it off before the payment book made it to the house.

I'm sure the F&I guy screamed when the bank clawed back their commission, most banks say the loan has to have several months of payments in order to be spiffed.
