I am still considering buying one of those little skinny spares (I have one for the BMW) but I thought, you know, the only time I take a long trip is to go to the track, and if I have a flat, that dinky little tire isn't going to cut it as a replacement. I priced a new OE wheel, and they are expensive!

So then I thought, hey, what if I buy a set of take-offs from a fellow forum member, and use one of those for a spare? That way I'd already have a wheel, tire and TPMS, and I could sell the other three to other folks here who also want a full-size spare. Or perhaps sell the rears to someone who wants a square setup...

The fella that I was talking to about his set of tires got banned, so I'm guessing that perhaps he was a scammer, but I still have the idea.

Thoughts? Any interest if I do this, in buying one of more of these wheels? I'd probably get a set of DH wheels so that they match my car.

I’d be interested and I don’t care if it’s a DH wheel or not. The lighter the better so I’d want a front wheel off any that will clear the brembo and work on either end. I’ve been looking at the donut at about 350 but that includes a scissor jack, etc.

My DH came with a full size GT wheel as the spare…. Takes up 80% of the trunk and the wheel well just has a polystyrene insert filling it and a jack. So a LOT of wasted space. I’ll put the wheel back in there and take a photo at some point - facepalm moment when I removed it then realised I hadn’t photographed it.

Do US models come with an inflation kit?

I’m going to buy the mini wheel as soon as I can find a reliable freight forwarding service that works here, as none of the suppliers I’ve come across ship to UAE at the moment.

A GT wheel will not fit the front brakes on a DH. And i would think a full size wheel/tire will be too high for spare tire wheel. Also, I saw a window sticker for a 2026 DH and the inflation kit was an option, not standard.

It’s the GT PP wheel so I’m fairly sure that covers the Brembos or it wouldn’t be there. And no it doesn’t even attempt to fit in the wheel well, it’s resting on top of the carpet tray and screwed down, literally filling the trunk space - not an elegant solution, nor viable for daily usage.

I’d rather it came with the inflation kit tbh but I can only assume it’s a legal requirement in the UAE to supply a car with a spare wheel and as Ford doesn’t make a mini/donut that will fit over the Brembos I presume they took this as the easier option rather than finding a supplier, testing, obtaining approvals, etc.

If you decide to go with the skinny doughnut spare tire approach, a cheap alternative to the aftermarket kits is to appropriate the aluminum spare tire from a Hyundai/Kia. I adapted one for my son's 2022 GT w/PP1 Brembo with the correct tire diameter (requires partial inflation to nest into the well) and another one with the matching tire diameter for my 2022 Mach 1 HP (full inflation fits fine in the well.) A full size spare is too unwieldy to lug around in the trunk.

I bought a Modern spare, jack and tools. Easy people to deal with and they answer questions better than this forum.

Automotive Authority skinny spare for my 2024 DH HP. Fits in trunk spare tire well. I test fitted it on front & rear - clears Brembos.
I had 2019 RoushCharged GT. Got spare wheel/tire from dealer. Put a 245 on it (instead of 275) to make tread width smaller with same diameter so it would fit through trunk opening. Used it on long trips. Fit in trunk with some struggle & took up most of the space. Better than nothing.
Lastly, Slime makes kits with inflator & goop. Added patch kits to all my vehicles. Cheap insurance.

You might also consider a battery pack for jump starts, cell phone charges, laptop charges, lights, etc. Don't forget your self defense too. I have several for that need.

I was happy to pay for a Mondern spare. One time being without one makes it all worthwhile, not to mention the peace of mind. But money is not an iissue with me. Maybe that's a difference.

I'm glad we optioned for the spare tire for my wife's car. I've had one in my previous car and current car and used it once for each of them. Sure, I have AAA and can have it towed home, but it's faster for me to change out the tire instead of waiting an hour or so.
