That’s so sad to me- E85 only giving 30 HP.

Coming from a ‘24 WRX- E85 tune over stock with the Flex Fuel Kit gives 70-80 HP sometimes more - and that’s at the wheels- over the 93 octane fuel.

turbo so of course there is that; but still… surprised that’s all it nets.
I dont think so Tim.

My car made 455/405 E85 tune only in 101f heat and 3000da. That was my initial tunes back when we just got access. Also not in the 1:1 gear. It would have made more. Plus now I have made monumental strides in my e85 tunes and I can run 60-130 just in the 9s now in the FL heat and I know its making more than it did before. Stock HP numbers are in the high 300s. I bet we are going to be closer to 470ish now on my mechanically stock paper airfilter car with my E tune on it through the 10R80. Which shifts like a DCT now at 8000rpm btw...

That would make more sense to me. 70-80 WHP matches what I’ve seen on other platforms when fueled properly at around E50-E55… above that the gains diminish and you don’t really gain anything.

and yes, the gas mileage sucks haha.

on E40 blend in my WRX I averaged about 15-16 MPG 🤣

My full E car is getting about 9 when Im out beating on it. I will run through an entire tank of e85 when Im out datalogging, making pulls and 60-130 rips for two hours. But let me tell you, the car is an absolute animal now. Pulling like a freight train to 8000rpm is bananas. Wait until it gets cooler out and I can go to the track. Shes ready to go dancing with her new shoes.

Mines on stop sale so I don’t drive the Wrex often to keep trade in miles off her.

But mentioning cool weather- it was in the low 60’s and I drove it about 20 miles and reminded me how much fun all cars are in the colder temps.

I think everything drives like crap in 110 degree heat. The entire summer is always disappointing driving the cars here in Texas…

I guess the poor sales of the S650 have put a damper on it. I was sure hoping for the FP tune for the Ecoboost... it was brilliant on the S550... better trans shifting plus additional boost! Guess I gotta try and find anyone doing tunes for the Ecoboost... anybody know?

It's funny how when the S650 came out they were making 430-440hp and were making so much power!

Then tuning started and the baselines magically dropped to 400 or even less...

IMHO the only way to do an e85 tune for a mass produced car is to use a sensor in the fuel line that can determine the ethanol content of the fuel in the fuel line and adjust the map for the read value. The term in use at the time was "flex fuel" as the car could adjust for the different stoichiometric ratios and other variables

It is impractical to have a straight e85 tune where I live in the summer, there isn't an e85 pump in the state of NH, Vermont or Maine, the ones in MA are over an hour away..... Where in FL there are 4 near me, but still not enough in the state to be able to run a e85 only tune on the street.

E85 does have more knock resistance compared to gasoline, and more Oxygen content, you can crank a lot of timing into a e85 motor, the trade off is it takes more e85 to get the same energy (BTU's) as gasoline, the ratio is down in the single digits vs gasoline in the 12.5 to 1 ratio or the theoretical 14.7 to 1 ratio for gas.

But the downside to e85 is it is corrosive and you have to make sure every part of the fuel system is going to be happy with it.

E10 is bad enough, right now my 74 Alda is in pieces and the injector pump is on a cross country trip to be rebuilt as the alcohol content in the MA gasoline destroyed the seals and gasoline was getting in the oil.

Rec90 is unheard of at the pump in the Northeast, where in FL it is everywhere and it is what I typically put in the cars and bikes that get stored for the summer

I’ve never had an issue. 3 years on my Mach 1 with no issue, E70 consistently at my local station . I run 93 in the winter when it sits over a week or 2 and E70 in summer with a really nice gain. Car runs so much better, cleaner, colder:
Can’t wait for a flex tune on my DH.
S650 fuel system is fine for it : I do t understand all the paranoia
