Have to laugh. Now someone thinks drivers "need" cars telling us how to drive. Some people do need it, but, really, those people shouldn't be driving.

My car has only done it when I was playing with it to see when it would come on. Could be because the roads suck around here. Same thing when that message comes on "do you need a rest?". I'll let the car know and get back with it.

I spoke with the "feedback" message taker and this stuff goes away, except for the annoying seatbelt sign between the tach and speedometer. Maybe they need to give reading lessons while they're at it.

There's also a difference with those equipped with the advanced BlueCruise (lane center keeping) and those who are not. Mine has the lane centering (it stay in the middle of the lane, even while turning trough the corner) and the "keep hands on wheels", as reported already many time, is there, even by keeping the hands on it, you're forced to "swing" the wheel every ten seconds or such. Kept mine OFF until it's fixed (if it'll ever be). It's a shame, coz it was useful during relaxed highway long trips.

We're on the same page. I have the lane centering on my 2021 Explorer and it works great there. It's so unobtrusive I can leave it on all the time. It never gives me useless warnings about hands on wheel. I only feel it nudge the wheel in rare instances.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit this, but it once kept me in my lane when I got distracted while having to menu dive the god-awful infotainment user interface to add bass to the audio or something. That gentle steering adjustment is all the warning I'll ever need to pay attention; if I feel the car is taking over, that's my cue to wake the f*** up and focus on the road.

Now that I think about it, I don't think this feature would have had as much use back when there were "bass" and "treble" knobs on the damned stereo... 🤔

What ever did we do before cars started telling us to put our hands on the wheel?

Golly...I don't know how I made it this far in life WITHOUT having a car tell me to keep my hands on the wheel every few seconds. I guess it's just a miracle!

Speaking personally, I was engaging in more productive pursuits than complaining on a forum about my car telling me to put my hands on the wheel.

Mustangs don't have the advanced Bluecruise or Bluecruise.

Well, how do you feel when you look in your rear view mirror at a stop light and there is a soccer mom or Karen smoking with one hand and talking on a cell phone with the other hand in a mini van full of kids? Ever wonder who is driving the car right behind you?

Or on your bike passing a car and you see the wanker is texting?

I've used "Ford BlueCruise" coz I were reading on tech doc about it, as they are using the term for this kind of assistance (la centering, signals recognition, adaptive speed control).. anyway, it doesn't have the fully autonomous driving (of course), but it's equipped with two levels of assistance: the "basic" one has only the "lane keeping", the more advanced one has the "lane centering" (it follows the road like an autopilot, even adjusting the speed, but with your hands on the wheel). It seems that the ones equipped with the latter, are more prone to show the "keep your hands on the wheel" popup, possibly because they won't risk you to be used like a FSD autopilot.
