Would love to see the cobra name come back in a mid-engine mustang Corvette fighter. Mustang Cobra, make it happen Ford.
personally I really like that idea. The mustang is going to need to revolutionize in order to keep its iconic status. With the market changes and the lack of any real competition, the mustang is going to need to upgrade what it is. Cobra nameplate is pretty awesome too.

Thank you, I see immense potential with offering multiple mustang models. Going after c8, but also continuing to offer the front engine mustang everyone knows and loves. We'll see what Ford decides to do, they were benchmarking the c8 a few years ago.

You answered your own question… 700lbs extra weight.

It’s never in stock form going to feel as fast as the C7 Vette. No setting or bolt-on will bridge that gap.

Physics favors the Vette; lighter weight, larger rear tires, better rear bias. 0-60 reviews show the C7 Stingray in the 3.9 second range versus the 4.3 of the S650 Mustang.

I am selling my C7 Z51 when my S650 GT gets closer to arriving....my C7 has crazy acceleration and I won't mind a drop in performance since I never have pushed my C7 near it's limits anyway.

If the C7 is an automatic it should be able to hit 60 in 3.7 seconds based on C&D reviews. C&D got the manual '24 GT to hit 60 in 4.2 seconds, so the auto should be around 3.8 seconds to 60.

Should be better than that if the average human response time is only 1 second.

All these people with their ideas of what to compare and what not to compare...the dude had a C7, now has an S650 GT, so of course he's going to compare the two. As far as how a car "feels"...The C7 has more torque and according to Car and Driver the C7 stingray is 500 lbs lighter. It will feel a lot faster. However, how fast something feels doesn't always translate to it actually being faster (in this case, it does). That said, the C7 does accelerate quicker than a manual GT. I like to look at the 60-100 mph time splits as a good indicator of acceleration (and 1/4 mile trap speeds). I like 60-100 mph because it is less dependent on aerodynamics and drag than a 60-130 mph split. C&D tested a C7 Z51 manual model back in 2014 and got 4.7 seconds 60-100 and 118 mph trap spped. C&D tested the 2024 GT w/ M6 and got 5.3 seconds 60-100 and 114 mph trap. That's only about 13% quicker, but definitely noticeable. I think much of what you're feeling is the lower torque and heavier weight of the GT.

That last race… pulling on em to 150 with the aero of a brick 😏

fwiw my bone stock GT traps 118 plus like clockwork.
Can’t wait for the track to open for spring

Interesting way of looking at it

The Mustang was losing that race, although not nearly as bad as it was lost in the first two races.

I don't know if the Corvette driver let off for a second, since they were pulling on the Mustang until 125mph.

Other guys are saying the C7 gearing isn't as good after 130 because of the eight speed auto (that doesn't make sense though because the 8 speed gearing doesn't have any big dropoffs)

They are about the same speed car, should be pretty close races.

Faster doesn’t always equal better

otherwise we would all be driving Teslas

It’s amazing because when I was younger I only cared about which car was faster in a straight line …

but even before Teslas … I owned a few S2000s in addition to my Mustangs and … I mean definitely not fast but such an engaging car…

I don’t go to the track so I care more about what car puts a smile on my face

I mean I could trade my car for a C8 tomorrow
The C8 is definitely faster but I’m sorry it’s quiet and what you can hear… I think the coyote in my F150 sounds better and just thought the C8 was not engaging at slow speeds

so to me it’s about driver engagement… not speed

The C7 never felt fast but it is still a little faster than a S550/S650....Less weight and more displacement/Torque !

I couldn't agree more. Completely different cars. My Mustang is a slug compared to my 2 C7 Z06's.
The Z06 is better compared to the GT500.
