Often times the fix is worse than the problem. Factory paint is generally better, and things can happen when in any mechanic or body shop. I think it's often best to live with little issues. Perhaps the plastic can be changed out for a new part. but then you still have to have a body shop take it all apart and things happen. Just my opinion, unless there is full paint failure, I think you will be happier leaving it alone.
I know my paint has several issues but at this point im trying to get ford to refund me a couple grand for the issues. They approved the warranty repair however, they wont pay the only body shop in towns price. So ive have been fighting with them since jan and am at a stand still. The body shop did tell me they have no way to really bake the paint like they do in factory so it will be softer than oem. Their advice was to ask for a settlement and live with it.

True, often times. That's why you only do business with people that know what they're doing. Were it my car, I would suck it up and pay it myself if I had to. There are a lot of good painters/repair people that can deal with those defects. I would pay for it after Ford got hell for it first.

sounds like an honest paint shop youre dealing with.

Im hesitant for the same reasons many people are discussing here. Afraid that whomever does whatever they do will cause bigger problems than an isolated defect only in the channel.

What is this baking you mention? is paint from the factory higher quality or more durable than what you can get out in the wild??? Here i was concerned about blending/matching the existing paint, what is this hardness business!?

The auto factories bake the paint at something like 350 degrees which makes it cure properly and makes it more durable and resistant to elements etc. this is done before all the electronics and such are in the car. So when you go to a body shop if they have a really nice setup they may be able to bake a hood, fender, etc, ya know something removable. But if it’s on the roof of a car or rear quarter panels they cant remove those things to bake em.

Oh i gotcha. thank you for that explanation. I wasnt aware that was part of the paint process. wow.

probably further reason for me to just leave it be and move on with life lol. I imagine theyd have to basically paint the whole roof to blend it in properly with the channel and if the other 99.9% of the paint they apply is 'soft' and less desirable than the factory job......then was that a wise trade. i have no idea.

goodgrief.

I checked my roof, and yep, it is paint free!
Don't get it wet... it will rust immediately... LOL

Yeah, small defect in my roof channel (dirt spec)... living with it. The fix may be worse than leaving it (if you can live with it). The grill can certainly be replaced though.

For the roof channel is a paint they have to repaint the entire roof. This also involves removing the front and rear windshield and reprograming the radar once reinstalled. Its a big thing, and not really worth it.

Yeah, they should repair the pinholes for sure, that’s operator error sealing the roof ditch.. probably not the base operator and someone got put on the job and only shown the basics…

They have a clear sealer they can apply

The grill no clue… that’s ugly.

I have paint issues on my 25 dh and 25 raptor, the 24 gt we had before the raptor also had a few paint issues, so yeah normal crappy ford quality.
I don’t quite understand the Paint issue.
I purchased a 2024 GT in Rapid Red, 401, etc.
After reading all the posts on bad paint I went over my Mustang with a Fine Tooth Comb.
I haven’t seen or found any Paint issues.
Could the Paint Issues be with a certain Build Date?
I agree some of the Photos would drive me Crazy.
Before I made the purchase I went over the Fender, Hood seams and the Paint but didn’t go in detail until I read all the Bad Paint Issues.

Ill update with my own situation regarding the rear channel defect i posted pics of earlier in the thread.

went to the dealership and was told about what i expected. removal of front and rear windshield, re paint the whole roof. they said they would submit a claim to ford for me if i was adamant about proceeding but they told me they were 90% sure the verdict would come back as the defect was 'within acceptable manufacturing standards.' ill never forget the nonchalant way that phrase exited the bodyshop foremans mouth lol. followed by the statement 'hes seen a lot worse' - like that makes me feel better about purchasing more ford vehicles in the future lol.

so i dabbed the bananas out of it with touch up paint and promptly forgot about it. moving on lol.

I found a good shop, that would work with my dealer. They found 400 paint issues on the car. Ford was only willing to pay $4300 for the issues. Obviously I couldnt get everything fixed as thats would have cost around 8k, but I can live with it at this point.

Hey, new to the Mustang world with my grabber blue GT V8 manual

Within days of delivery when detailing it I noticed blobs of paint ?contaminant in the roof channel and tiny areas with holes and missing paint- see pics

On the front grille an area of the plastic has a bubbling appearance. I’m from Western Australia so it’s our winter (so practically summer for Europe and Northern states US lol). I don’t believe it’s heat related.

anyone else have these issues? Is this to be expected in a brand new car from Ford

Yikes,
I would let my Ford Dealer do the Repair.
It’s a shame you have to deal with this issue. Sin Loy.

I have a paint blemish on my passenger side roof by the windshield. It is at the dealer getting some stuff done and the recall. This is on my Dark Horse HP I payed MSRP in Canada $93,000 so when I go to the dealer his paint guy says it's bird crap. Where to me it looks like off gassing under the paint. So this car is garage kept and gets hand wash waxing and never remember any bird crap on it. So what Ford is telling me their paint can't handle a simple bird crap. What a joke their paint is garbage. Now that they have to use water base paint I'm surprised heavy rain doesn't make it run. Good luck with your car I might have to pay to get my roof painted.

There's a paint bubble on the outside of my trunk lid. I know it's a bubble because I could indent it with my fingernail and the impression disappeared shortly after. Ford has denied my claim once already. The bodyshop manager at the dealership I got the car from took more pictures and resubmitted my claim but it's been 3 weeks of radio silence. My PPF guy is sitting on hold because he did the whole car minus the trunk while I waited for warranty repair. Best part is the trunk lid is steel so I can't wait for that bubble to crack after a few years of thermal stress from the seasons and rust the hell out of my "hurr durr special model Dork Horse not eligible for any discounts" like I've been telling Ford it will. You would think they'd be more appreciative of me buying new their worst selling gen Mustang in the history of the nameplate but I got my suspicions confirmed that I'm a nobody loser and perhaps a sucker to them. I've driven nothing but Mustangs since I had my learner's permit so I'm not a hater but this is probably my last Mustang TBH. I feel like I got pretty burned by the situation.
