Ford’s Mustang Family Could Get Even Wilder With a Reported Off-Road Baja Model

S650 Mustang Report: Mustang Baja Off-Road Model Previewed to Dealers 2024-ford-mustang-mach-e-rally-5.jpg

https://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-mustang-baja-off-road-report

An off-road Mustang would potentially blend pony-car performance with Raptor know-how.

Ford CEO Jim Farley has said he wants the company to become the “Porsche of off-road,” and if a new report is accurate, Ford could be preparing one of its wildest interpretations of that idea yet. Automotive News (subscription required) reports that the Blue Oval is working on an off-road-ready Mustang Baja, taking the Mustang name into territory we’ve never seen it roam before.

According to the report, Ford has gone as far as showing dealers “an off-road Mustang called Baja.” There is no firm timeline for when, or if it would reach production, but the idea potentially represents another major expansion of the Mustang family beyond street-based models such as the new 795-hp Mustang Dark Horse SC that’s arriving in dealerships soon.

Why do they keep whoring the Mustang name all over the place. Stop it already.

Yeah, that’s the part I don’t like either. It dilutes what the Mustang name has meant for decades.

Ford’s branding team seems to have a hard time coming up with new names.

If something sporty needs a name, just slap “Mustang” on it.

Ford marketing meeting:

“We need a name for our new model.”
“Mustang?"

“But it’s not really a Mustang.”

“Perfect. Mustang it is.” 😂

At this rate Ford will eventually sell two things: Mustangs and F-150s

Waiting for it to be based off the SC and have a 200K plus starting price, topping out at 300k with ADM all said and done

“MUSTANG DARK HORSE SC RAPTOR R CARBON”
Has a ring to it… rolls off the tongue

and Farley will act like he did you all a huge favor because DAKAR porche’s are like 4-500k

Yup, exhausting. That's a Mach-E, not a Mustang. Whoever came up with the "Mustang Family" idea should be fired.

The Ford Canada website has been showing this split for a while, but it doesn't seem the EU or AU sites have followed suit yet. USA obviously hasn't either....

But….. he wants the Mustang to be like Porsche.
