Thanks for the insight everyone. The Recaro seats don't seem like a great deal to me. You lose the heating and cooling and if you want to track it you are probably pulling the passenger and back seats anyway. How hard is it to pull the drivers seat too and put in a race seat it's like 4 more bolts. Even if you're tracking it every weekend I still think I'd want the heated and cooled seats for resale.
Funny thing happened along the way to the decision…
I signed for my car yesterday. Went with a 301A manual w/ PP & Active Exhaust.
While there, I sat in a Dark Horse with the Recaros.
Literally the first Recaros that hurt my back. Every iteration I’ve ever owned, Camaro 1LE, VW GTI, Subaru WRX tR, etc - the Recaros were perfect for my body type, whatever that is.
These, however, were terrible for my back.
In a wild twist of fate, my beautiful wife who has had spinal surgery and finds most Recaros painful on her shoulder/neck area- sat in the Dark Horse first- and said “Babe- these are the most comfortable Recaros I’ve ever sat in. I think I could live with these, come try them”.
Oh, the irony.
So instead we’re going to add Katzkin leather/suede and go that direction!
Thanks for everyone’s suggestions.
