Maybe they are just crap at driving then?Okay, so what if you're driving someone home because they're drunk, and the system thinks it is you the driver? Considering how many people are presently getting arrested for impaired driving, even though all of the chemical tests show you're cold-stone-sober!
May be we should change the mascot from Uncle Sam, to George Orwell?
this is probably the main reason why the NHTSA is having a hard time with this. false positives will do so much harm, more so than the good. it will also boost the inevitable cause to defeat and disable these devices. just look at auto start stop. of course, nobody involved in the actual bill has any real idea of how all this would work, and they don't care. it just makes them look good for supporting itOkay, so what if you're driving someone home because they're drunk, and the system thinks it is you the driver? That's fine if they believe in God or not. The point is, the declaration of independenceErm, 'God' means nothing to a lot of people so has no impact on rights at all.
In this case they ‘assume’ the identity of the individual, insurance is the liability leverage (as in it ain’t covered if it ain’t you or a duly recognized authorized individual). In the kill switch scenario you are guilty until proven innocent (even though already ‘licensed’ - for whatever acknowledgment that means) and in the ‘convicted violator’ scenario the equipment and management thereof is an additional punishment burden, although just as ‘user agreements’ hold the weight if law so does acknowledgment of requirements by the request of license. The car automatically reports you driving habits to your insurance companies. Where you drive and how you drive are continuously being monitored. I don't like it and a kill switch is too much. I recently had a wife of a cop say if you aren't doing anything wrong why do you care if you have no privacy. I immediately shot back when you go to the bathroom do you shut the door? Take a shower? Why, you are not doing anything wrong. I got no answer. Privacy is important and I don't like it that my car reports on me.
So what is that higher authority? That's fine if they believe in God or not. The point is, the declaration of independence
, the constitution, etc point to a HIGHER authority than the government they were setting up as the SOURCE of the rights. " endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights "
It matters not if you believe in this God or not, only that the government does not have authority over the rights was the whole point of it!
This is why the bill of rights, do not GRANT a right, they are all limits on what the government can do to the people. They are not pointed at people, like 2A isn't limiting what the people can do, but what the government can do.
How can one reply without wading into forbidden waters? Maybe a good analogy but talk about being put on the spot ….So what is that higher authority?
Where does that authority lie today?
I can understand the idea that God was that higher authority back then but we all know that the position of religions has changed considerably since the 1700's This seems to me to be one of the problems when things like the constitution, Bill of Rights etc are so old and were never written with modern day life in mind - they simply couldn't be.
Yes but it seems everyday we seem to get closer to Russia. Covid proved that.Another reason to be thankful that we don't live in Russia.
