Rear spring Isolator

I just installed the RTR tactical lower springs on my 24 GT. I could be wrong but something looks off. I dont remember my springs being that close when installed.

Here is a better photo it actually looks like my springs are in opposite directions of one another. * head scratcher* driver side is loose at the top and tight at the bottom then the passenger side is loose at the bottom and tight at the top

The first photo at the top looks like it isn't seated right obviously. but then again it doesn't look like it is in a bind either. IMO if it is not giving you trouble or making noise i would roll with it. I wish I had photos of mine but i dont to share with you.

I just got off the phone with the shop sending photos and video waiting to hear back. My springs look opposite of one another that’s what I don’t understand. They should be loose and tight in the same directions. The only noise I heard was earlier today a clunk which I installed the now isolators which are supposed to stop that. I’m more concerned about what the springs don’t look identical one needs to be flipped around I think.

I would say your probably right. if it is clunking, i would say that they need to be switched out before bigger problems arise.

It’s normal for them to clunk from what I’m told hence the isolators needed. If you go back in this thread you will note @Stang24 needed the isolators also it’s the only thing that makes it stop

So I don't understand. If the car is in the air, the springs would be extended. The picture shows the top 6 coils of the spring in what appears to be coil binding. Even if they were slightly not touching each other statically... when the car is driven, they are going to touch.

I would use the plastic wrap things (not sure what they are actually called but 1 poster showed on coil using them) on the top 6 coils.

In any case, dual rate or not, the pic doesn't look normal. Are they the correct spring? And the top doesn't appear to be seated properly either.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but something looks off.

Perhaps someone here using the ford track springs for non mag suspension could take a look at their setup and verify.

Flipping the spring over won't address a coil bind issue. It's still the same weight compressing the spring.

Searching that P/N and this is what I find:

The CM-5560-YA part number refers to Ford Performance Rear Track Lowering Springs designed for 2015-2023 Mustang GT and EcoBoost Fastback models with Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), providing about a 1-inch drop for aggressive stance and improved handling, but not for MagneRide equipped vehicles, and often paired with Ford Performance shocks/struts for optimal results.


Did you verify it's the correct P/N?

Cool ... I tried to find it at ford performance and couldn't find it by searching the rear spring p/n.

If you look at this photo take note of the tight side being up and the loose side being down. It looks like my springs were installed opposite of each other one has the tight side up and the other tight side down. That’s what makes it look funny like this .
