Hagerty set up a drag race with the quickest cars under $35,000, including the Mustang Ecoboost. It included front- and rear-wheel drive cars, and any cars available with a manual were raced with a manual. The Ecoboost Mustang, of course, is no longer available with a manual.

Kind of dumb to us a manual for the rest of them, would like to see the Hyundai as an auto

and man the WRX still has no balls. Crappy launch and no top end

I cross shopped the WRX, decided against it due to engine reliability and insurance.

Agreed a bit biased against the Elantra with the manual. Still good to see a Mustang come out on top. Nothing like some good old confirmation bias.

The DCT Elantra N is 0.3s faster 0-60 and has a 13.4s quarter mile. That puts it very close to the EcoBoost. That is a pretty awesome car.

Mustang Ecoboost 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Remember you said that was impossible and that it could only get to 5 seconds with a performance package lol Crazy value for under $35k.

i have always said that people sleep on the EcoBoost too much. it may be a turbo I4, but its still extremely capable! and this is all after Ford knocked the 2.3L's hp down from the Focus RS' 350 to 310, then up to the current 315. imagine how insane it would be if it kept the RS 350hp

You missed the part of the video where they said they had to add the performance pack so the Mustang came in at over $35,000...

Also, they tested a 2024, if you optioned out a 2025 (like the other cars in the test), you'd be at 44k once you got the performance pack stuff like the active ehxaust, better tires, yadda yaddda (between the price increase for the new model year and Ford changing how you can selection options on the base model car...)

Car and Driver took a 2023 Elantra N with the DCT to a 13.4 sec @ 106 mph 1/4 mile

But to be fair, that car is also over $35,000 - the 2025 model would be $36,600 with that option

You still don't get that this car isn't $32k or whatever you want it to be. And the base model does not perform as well as the model they tested.

I never said that car in the video was $32k. You said a PP Ecoboost only does 0-60 in 5 seconds early in another thread. I said it was faster. And I was correct.

That's my final post on the subject. Not going to hijack this thread lol

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said that. I quoted the C&D test where it did.

I said the base model isn't going to do it that fast and you never posted a source that says it was, you keep going to the 2024 test of the higher model, and I showed you a bunch of tests of the base car doing it slower than 5 seconds

I pushed the Ford built 2.3L in my mazdaspeed to just over 400hp/400trq at the wheels. That car was incredible. Looks like the current EBs are still safe to that 400 range. With RWD and A10, that thing would fly.
