Body shops love owners who pressure wash their cars - kills paint jobs - drives water vapor right through clear coat, paint and primer. My local paint booth spray god said we should give pressure washers away with every new car as 99% of the idiots will ruin their cars, boats, house siding and back yard decks - then we should ask for a cut from all the boat/home repair guys. Really kills boat's gel coats.

HTF does water vapor go through clear coat, paint, and primer? I'd love to hear the physics of this. 🤣

A low PSI pressure washer does not inherently hurt your car, In fact, it is recommended for car washing to use a lower pressure setting, typically between 1200-1500 PSI, to safely remove contaminants without damaging paint or sensitive components. Using too high a pressure or a concentrated spray pattern can strip wax, damage the clear coat, lift trim, or force water into electrical components, leading to potential issues. It's crucial to use a wide-angle nozzle, maintain a safe distance 1-2 feet, and avoid direct spray on sensors, cameras, seals, and other vulnerable areas.

An idiot could destroy his car with a hose, or a car wash, I must be one level above an idiot because my cars look great. At least they do from a couple of metres way. The Mustang looks better than new still. Getting paint correction and ceramic coating from new paid off.

Did a bad install of the bumper while doing my exhaust last year. Decided to see how the supercharger performed this weekend, hit 160 and off the bumper came. Luckily no damage to sensors and lights, just plastic and paint. Still looking at a $1600 repair. đź«

There are dent specialists all around. they use glue and bend the metal back into its shape. I had somebody side-swipe my car and the guy fixed it without drilling any holes. You can barely see it anymore.

@Vapor ..... you are probably in the 1% club that actually know how to use a pressure washer. The rest damage trim (painted plastic) and drive water into body cavities.

at this point in my career, I am a firm believer in a good PDR person over a traditional repair

If the PDR guy can't get the dent out, then your other option is traditional body work

If you spend enough time around PDR guys, it is amazing whet they can do.

I have had to handle claims on hail damaged cars, where the roofs were FUBAR'd and the PDR guys got it back to pre loss condition with no trace of damage.
100% agree with you on this. I've been working with my PDR guy for about 14 years now and i swear this guy is a magician.

Make sure you go with one that has at least 10 years experience. That dent will come out where no one will know. $650 is a rip-off.

The guy that does my Paintless Dent Repair charged me $100 for a large one on the top of fender of my F-150. Couldn't tell it was ever damaged when he was finished. If there is a Karsmetics shop near you they usually do that. Dealers always have a PDR person on speed dial for their trade ins.
