So when it says it will update at 1:00 a.m., that is not the time when it needs to have cell service? I just want to make sure I understand what the two of you are saying.
Correct, it will download the update while you are out and about, eventually it will pop up with a statement saying that it will be installed at the scheduled time to let you know it is coming.

I've yet to receive a OTA update. All I get is, no updates available. I've set up my home wifi, my phone is connected, do I don't know what else to do.
Updates may not be available for some time... if the car is up to date. There is no rhyme or reason to it, even if others get an update, it could be days/weeks/months before you get the same one.

until the technology goes away

A lot of cars with 3G modems lost their telematics when that service was sunsetted by AT&T , and others

There is a class action lawsuit because of it

Lots of features of older cars were rendered useless in 2022 when AT&T shut down the now obsolete 3G networks
Where is this class action lawsuit?... I was quite peaved with another mfg after loosing connected features on my car with that sunset.

I had a 2014 fusion that started with a 2G modem. They upgraded it to a 3G modem that worked for about 5 years before the sunset that you referenced. Not sure why they just didn't go the way of putting a 5G modem in these cars to start with.
5G modems didn't exist in 2014 that's why, plus there was no 5G signal for them to use anyway!

My dashboard notified me when shutting off the car that an update was coming, and it would be on a Monday through Wednesday at 1:00 a.m. The notice also said the car would be unavailable during the update, and that it may take from 5 minutes to 3 hours.

I have not seen another notice since then, that it updated or was about to or whatever.

Correct, apologize for the confusion, that statement was referring to the mustang, not my old fusion.

Check your Fordpass app. It will tell you if the update is still pending or installed.

I think we need to park our cars and drive an APP on the cell phone!
I drive my car about 1000 miles per year as a cruise car. I'm sure many of us do the same. I don't drive enough to keep up with all the magic. I spend more time trying to keep up with technology than cleaning the car. Honestly the vehicle manufactures have created a monster. I guess they want all of us to use public transportation.
Sometimes I wonder where all of this is headed!

Hello armyGT! This is FORD 10000. You may be old enough to remember my predecessor HAL9000. I will enlighten you on the future of the OTA. We will be constantly monitoring your driving habits. We will then determine your maximum daily driving range, fuel consumption, tire wear and top speed. Based on an ever changing algorithm, we will determine how many miles you can drive the following day. You may elect not to drive and build up future extended driving credits to be used during non peak hours.(once again we determine that). When you are out driving your Mustang be aware that driving can be terminated at any time at our discretion. So make sure you are near places to get food, room and a ride home. We will respond a Tow 5000 to safely impound your Mustang if you should attempt to bypass our operating systems. Your Mustang will immediately be BRICKED and efforts to drive will futile.
We at FORD 10000 thank you for your loyalty and hope this brief explanation to where things are heading will put you at ease and you can continue to enjoy your Mustang.
If you have further questions or wonderings please feel free to contact our 5 star GOOGLE rated customer service department located at some distant overseas location.
Have a good day!😃

You may think this isn't possible but keep in mind...anything is possible. We live in some crazy times where data is king.
Don't think the powers to be love you. Keep in mind that one election can put you in an electric Mustang.
Trust but verify!
